The Ohio State Buckeyes continue their dominant run in the 2026 NFL Draft with tight end Max Klare being selected by the Los Angeles Rams.

After an incredible first day of the 2026 NFL Draft for the Ohio State Buckeyes, the prestigious program continued its successful stint into round two with former tight end Max Klare being selected by the Los Angeles Rams with the No. 61 pick.

Klare originally began his college career with the Purdue Boilermakers, but quickly became one of the most underrated pass catchers in the Big 10 Conference. As a junior, the talented playmaker led the Boilermakers with 685 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 51 catches.

His incredible play during the 2024 college football season prompted him to enter the transfer portal, and head coach Ryan Day was able to add Klare for the 2025 season.

Unfortunately for the rising offensive weapon, he saw a slight regression in his stats throughout his final year in college. Klare ended his 2025 campaign with 448 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 43 receptions.

However, due to the Buckeyes' offense featuring both star wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate, he was unable to truly carve out a role at Ohio State, but his unique skill set allowed him to be selected in the second round of this year's draft.

How Klare Fits With Rams in 2026 and Beyond

Looking at how Klare fits into the Rams' offense in 2026 and beyond, Los Angeles was a perfect destination for the young offensive weapon.

Head coach Sean McVay is known for using multiple tight ends on the field at once, and Klare's ability to be an adequate blocker and pass catcher will allow him to thrive with the Rams. Standing at 6-foot-4, 246 lbs., Klare has an excellent frame that will allow him to be a versatile weapon.

As of now, the Rams currently have a loaded tight end room that includes Colby Parkinson, Tyler Higbee, and 2025 second-round pick, Terrance Ferguson. Klare will have to compete against both Higbee and Ferguson during his rookie season with the Rams, but his future could be bright in Los Angeles depending on how well he develops.
