Reports out of the Woody Hayes Athletic Center are that Ohio State's two-star wide receivers are trending towards playing on Saturday against Michigan

The Ohio State Buckeyes looked a lot different when they were down their two star wide receivers last week against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Julian Sayin completed just 13 passes in their win last week, with only four of passes going to wide receivers. Two of those catches went to David Adolph, who had only one catch in the season against Grambling State in Week 2.

Sayin looked uncomfortable without his two stars, and the offense had a completely different personality to it.

Unfortunately, it was clear that the Buckeyes' passing attack looked grim in Week 13. Luckily, they found a different way to win. Tight end Max Klare had his best game of the year with seven catches for 105 yards and a touchdown.

It showed the offense that they have options outside of their two stars if they get into a scenario where they don't have their top receivers.

However, rumors are beginning to circulate out of Columbus that we may be seeing both Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate on Saturday.

First, it was Smith who went on Caleb Downs' podcast this week and said that he "should be good to go" for The Game. He had a big smile on his face, while also being very strategic. The word "should" is holding a lot of weight in this quote because it keeps the door open for him to not suit up at the last minute.

The second, and very important decision, is the status of Tate.

The whispers around Tate are concerning because many are saying that he is going to be very cautious with his calf strain. It would be hard to fault Tate, who has catapulted himself into a Top-15 pick in next year's draft.

Coming off the calf injuries we saw in the NBA last season with Pacers' star Tyrese Haliburton, it would not be a surprise if he continued to be cautious.

Head coach Ryan Day was asked about practice this week, to which he responded by claiming that the Buckeyes had everyone available. He also said that we will see how the next 48 hours go, so there is a lot of time for both of those two guys to do what they need to do to be on the field.

If the Buckeyes don't have these two on Saturday, the game will be much closer than expected. If both of them suit up, look out, Wolverines, the Buckeyes are going to put the pedal down.
