Ohio State finds itself at the top of yet another list, this time, in the wide receiver category.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are widely regarded as Wide Receiver University, and it continues to be proven. This time, it is a list of college programs that have the most 1,000-yard wide receiver seasons.
The Buckeyes, naturally, sit at the top of this list as they have a total of 44 players who have had a 1,000-yard season in the NFL.
To be honest, while that number is at the top of the list, we have been so spoiled with incredibly wide receivers that it seems like it should be much, much more than just 44 times.
The Buckeyes' wide receiver pipeline has been healthy for a very long time. Recent history tells us that the Buckeyes have been incredible at the position group over the past decade.
However, 44 seasons stretches way further than the last 10 years.
For as good as the recent history has been, the OG's at the position were so, so good. Chris Carter is at the top of the list as the best one to come through the program. In the league, Carter finished his career with nearly 14,000 total yards and 130 touchdowns.
He himself had eight straight 1,000 yard seasons.
Then, it was guys like Joey Galloway, Paul Warfield, Mike Thomas, and Terry McClaurin who were also at the top of the list.
Now, the modern receivers are absolute killers in the league.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Garrett Wilson, and Chris Olave are the most recent to clip the 1,000-yard mark in the league.
Some of the surprises are TerrellePryor Jr, his 2016 season eclipsed 1,000 total yards, and Brian Hartline also had two years of over 1,000 yards for the Miami Dolphins.
Eclipsing 1,000 yards is no easy task. It is one of the hardest things to do in the NFL, and no matter how talented these guys are at the college level, it is very hard for it to translate to the pro game.
For some, it is seamless. For others, it is really hard to do and to accomplish.
No other program has made it look easier than the former Buckeyes, and it isn't slowing down anytime soon.
Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka are just loading up, Carnell Tate will take his first step next year, and then Jeremiah Smith might rip off 10 to 12 straight seasons of over 1,000 yards when it is his turn in the NFL.
