The Ohio State Buckeyes have an absolutely loaded schedule in 2026. Not only do they face Texas in their non-conference schedule, but they also get the Oregon Ducks, the Michigan Wolverines, and the Indiana Hoosiers.
The entire country is going to have its eyes on Bloomington, Indiana, on October 17th when the Buckeyes travel west to battle the defending National Champion Indiana Hoosiers.
Both the Hoosiers and the Buckeyes are quite the enigma going into next year. Both teams were, obviously, great last year, but both programs have had to shapeshift their rosters heading into 2026.
For the Buckeyes, they have had to retool their entire defense as they lost a first-round pick at every level on that side of the ball.
For the Hoosiers, well, they lost the No. 1 overall pick, Fernando Mendoza, who willed the Hoosiers to a title last year in some of the toughest environments and games that you could imagine.
Now, they turn the keys over to first-year transfer Jake Hoover to try to find lightning in a bottle again. They also have had to retool at the wide receiver position and on defense in the secondary, as they also lost D'Angelo Ponds.
While these two teams are going to look way different next year, they are still going to be very, very good.
FanDuel Sportsbook released the line for October 17th, and as you would expect, it is basically a Pick 'Em. The Buckeyes are a 1.5-point underdog, which actually signals that Vegas thinks they are the favorite. The typical rule of thumb is that playing at home accounts for 3 points.
So, this line is saying that at a neutral site, Ohio State would be -2.5 point favorites.
I couldn't recommend it enough to not touch this game until game week because this is so far away. So many things can change, but the storyline here is that the expectation around the country is that Ohio State is much, much closer to the top of the mountain.
The Buckeyes will be scared of absolutely nobody next season, and if they are able to survive their near-impossible regular season, they will have the inside track at the National Championship.
There will be plenty of speed bumps along the way, and the Buckeyes' resolve will be tested on a weekly basis. If they survive, look out.
