After the Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the Texas Longhorns in week one, the program's next big test this season will come sooner than most expected.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have continued their dominate run from the 2024-25 season into this year, and head coach Ryan Day and his squad are showing no signs of stopping.

In week one, the program welcomed the preseason No. 1 team in the Texas Longhorns, which resulted in a hard-fought victory, 14-7. After the impressive win, the Buckeyes would then go on to defeat Grambling State at home 70-0, which included redshirt freshman quarterback Julian Sayin throwing for 306 yards and four touchdowns while completing nearly 95 percent of his attempts.

Both of Ohio State's wins this season have begun to answer a majority of the questions fans had going into this season, but the team's next test will take place when the Buckeyes travel to Washington in week five.

Why Fans Should Pay Attention To Washington

To most fans, the Huskies do not pose a serious threat to Ohio State's road to a second National Championship in 2025. However, the program has already begun to improve in head coach Jedd Fisch's second season. These changes have been led by Huskies' quarterback Demond Williams Jr, as he's thrown for 480 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 132 yards and one touchdown on the ground.

With Williams under center, Fisch is able to tout a two-headed rush that includes senior running back Jonah Coleman. Through two games this year, Coleman has already recorded the third-most rushing yards in FBS with 288 rushing yards, along with seven touchdowns. His efforts this season have benefited the Huskies' offensive attack this season, as he's able to ease the pressure on the program's young quarterback.

Washington's ability to run the ball on offense will be another test for defensive coordinator Matt Patricia. Despite the defense's terrific play so far this season, the Buckeyes have allowed an average of 130 rushing yards per game this season, which mean's Patricia must find a way to limit both Williams and Coleman on the ground.

In addition to stopping the run in week five, the big-time conference matchup will be Sayin's first ever road start of his colligate career. The young gunslinger did an excellent job of doing what was asked from him in week one against Texas, but now, he must find a way to handle the pressure on the road in a hostile environment. If Sayin can continue his dominant run on the road, Ohio State can once again prove to be the best team in the nation.
