Arvell Reese stamped his position as the second overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft with her performance at Ohio State's Pro Day in Columbus on Wednesday.
Nearly the entire NFL was in attendance at Ohio State's Pro Day on Wednesday. The most elite talent in the country was on display for all of the scouts and general managers to see.
Out of all of the elite players that are available in next month's draft, one Buckeye stood out amongst the rest. That one player was Arvell Reese.
Reese is one of the best stories in all of college football. Coming into the 2025 season, no one knew his name, and he had only 43 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and half of a sack to his name.
Not only was he not a draft prospect, but he was alson't even on anyone's radar to be a viable player at Ohio State.
Fast forward 12 months, and Reese basically punched his ticket to be the No. 2 overall pick in next month's NFL Draft to the New York Jets.
Reese's tape jumps off the screen, especially early on in the season. He has an incredible, relentless instinct to rush the quarterback. It comes so naturally to him, and he does it with such violence.
The best thing that he did last season was showcase his ability to use his speed, strength, and his IQ to get to the quarterback.
He finished the season with 69 total tackles, 1o tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks on the year for the Buckeyes. As an edge defender, even with an undersized frame, he has all of the tools to be a great pass rusher at the next level.
Now, the only thing left is finding a team to take a chance on him. It is very likely, especially after Wednesday's performance, that the team is going to be the New York Jets.
However, it isn't passed the Jets to overthink a move like this, and if they do, Reese will not fall very far. Having an elite pass rusher and edge defender in today's NFL is just as important as having a bookend left tackle or a star wide receiver. The best of the best are not floating around and up for grabs.
When you get the opportunity to grab one, you take it every single time.
New York will have that chance at about 8:10 PM on Thursday night of the NFL Draft. It is the expectation of just about everyone that they are going to take Reese and really solidify that defensive line and their pass rush for years to come.
