The bell ringer on Saturday against Maryland is none other than the Buckeyes' legend Malcolm Jenkins, who will welcome the Buckeyes to the field.

The Ohio State Victory Bell ringer is one of the great things that Ohio State has done for its gameday experience. It takes just a handful of seconds and adds a neat pregame element to the Gameday Experience.

It also provides an opportunity for the Buckeyes to bring back legends of their program to be around the team and back around the fanbase on game day.

It is also a great excuse to look back on just how good these guys used to be, and Malcolm Jenkins falls into the elite category.

Jenkins was a staple of the Buckeyes' defense from 2005 through 2008. He, like some of the all-timers, wasted no time making an impact on the field. He appeared in 11 games as a true freshman and, in that season, registered just 37 total tackles.

It was his sophomore season that he really took the Buckeyes' defense over. For the next three seasons, he would have no less than 47 total tackles, no fewer than 4.5 tackles for loss, at least three interceptions each year to go along with one total sack and two interceptions returned for touchdowns.

Jenkins was an absolute star for those late 2000s Buckeyes and is one of the ones that you think about when you think of the old-time Buckeyes.

His career at Ohio State was so good that it led to him being the 14th overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft by the New Orleans Saints. His NFL career was a storied one. It lasted 13 seasons in two historic locations in New Orleans and Philadelphia.

His rookie year in New Orleans was one of the best ones in the history of that franchise. It was that year that they won the Super Bowl over the Indianapolis Colts. Jenkins would add one more ring to his selection in 2018 when the Eagles took down Tom Brady's New England Patriots to hoist the Lombardi.

Jenkins doesn't have the stats or the accolades to make his way into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but that doesn't take anything away from his incredible career.

He has three Pro Bowls to his name and one second-team All-Pro in his second year. He was a force to be reckoned with throughout his career, and he is remembered on Saturday.

For the Buckeyes, this is a game that they have to protect against a trap. They are coming off a huge win, and they are looking forward to a huge game next week in Bloomington. They have to take care of business on Saturday, and they will be led by one of the all-time greats, Malcolm Jenkins.
