The Ohio State Buckeyes roster, on paper, is going to be loaded heading into the 2026 season. There will be stars everywhere, but their depth may be challenged in certain areas.

One area that it won't be challenged is at the quarterback position. The Buckeyes will enter the season with one of the strongest quarterback rooms in the entire country. It obviously starts with Julian Sayin, but the depth at that position is remarkable, which is good for now and later for the Buckeyes.

Our preseason position review begins with the quarterback position, the position that cost the Buckeyes a chance to repeat as National Champions in 2025 and has a massive chip on its shoulder heading into next year.

Julian Sayin was really good last year against the bad teams, but in the three games against the best teams that Ohio State faced, Sayin struggled in big moments. With that as the recap of his entire season, the details of it were incredible.

He finished the year with a nation's best 77 percent completions, good for 3,610 yards, which was 10th best in America, and 32 touchdown passes, which was fourth in the country. His best games came against Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Penn State, where he finished with over 300 yards and at least three touchdowns in each game.

Looking forward to next year, the area of growth for him is being that same quarterback against the best teams. He will have the opportunity to do so as the Buckeyes have three Top-5 teams on their schedule next season.

If he is his normal self, he will be in the conversation for the Heisman Trophy at the end of the season and in the conversation for a top draft pick in next year's NFL Draft. More importantly, the Buckeyes will be competing for the National Championship.

The excitement for St. Clair, TSC, going forward is palpable in Columbus. He was a five-star recruit last recruiting cycle and is every bit the part. He was the No. 4 overall recruit in the country, the No. 2 quarterback, and the No. 1 recruit in Ohio coming out of small-town Bellfontaine, Ohio. 

Heading into year two, this year will be the first one to count against his eligibility, as he redshirted last year. They certainly will not rush to get him in, but in the event that Sayin goes down, there will be no step back in QB play. 

In his first live action during the Spring Game in April, TSC came out and showed that he can make every throw on the field and has an athleticism that Buckeye fans haven't seen since Justin Fields.

Whenever he does get the keys to the Buckeyes' offense, it will unlock an entirely new element to the attack.

Justyn Martin is the Buckeyes' transfer quarterback who makes it three schools in four seasons. Martin began his career at UCLA for two seasons before transferring to Maryland, where he was on the team last year but never took a snap.

In his one year of playing at UCLA, he played in just three games, finishing 24-35 for 179 yards and one touchdown. He is in Columbus as a redshirt senior to put a bow on his college football playing career.
