Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith sets the record for touchdowns in a career, tying Chris Olave's mark of 35.

Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith officially became the Ohio State all-time leader in touchdowns with his touchdown catch on Saturday afternoon against the Iowa Hawkeyes. With Smith's catch, he ties Chris Olave with 35 career touchdowns for the Buckeyes.

The efficient dominance that Jeremiah Smith has had over his entire career has been something to marvel at. From his very first game in college against the Akron Zips, where Smith had six catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns.

He wasted no time getting his career underway, and from then, he has consistently been the best player in college football the entire time.

Prior to his game last week against Illinois, when he had 12 catches for 217 yards and four touchdowns, his claim to fame was his coming-out party in the 2025 Rose Bowl against Oregon.

In that game, he had seven catches for 187 yards and two scores in front of a national audience in the "Grand Daddy of 'em all."

This record is one that Smith just needed 34 games to break. In contrast, Olave set the record across 47 career games for the Buckeyes.

Smith's production across his career is almost laughable to look at and really take in. He is averaging one touchdown per game across his entire career, which is a truly ridiculous start. This record seemed far off for Smith to achieve and was on pace for him to achieve later in the year. That was until he exploded against Illinois for four scores.

For the Buckeyes in the big picture, Smith needs to continue to be the force that he has become over his time in Columbus. The Buckeyes roster this year does have some flaws to it and it isn't perfect. As long as Smith is on the field, they have a chance to beat everyone in the country, so he needs to continue the work that he is doing for the Buckeyes to make a postseason run.

In the big picture, there is truly no debate who the best wide receiver is to ever come through WRU. Ohio State has produced the best collection of wide outs ever in college football and Smith is the best of all of them and there is no argument.

There is not one former Buckeye that you would take Smith over and he continues to prove that each and every game.

It's been fun to watch all of Smith's career so far, and what he does in the rest of his final year will be just as special.
