The Former Ohio State Buckeyes first round picks have all settled into their new homes and into their new digs, and it is safe to say that they are looking good.
Ohio State had four first-round draft picks in what turned out to be a very historic draft for Ohio State. It wasn't their best one by volume, as they finished with just 11 draft picks compared to last year's 14, but they went crazy in the first round.
The Buckeyes had four guys taken all within the top 11 picks.
Arvell Reese dropped to the New York Giants to make a defensive line full of avengers in New York, Carnell Tate is Cam Ward's newest weapon, Sonny Styles is now the leader of the NFC East, and Caleb Downs is trying to redeem the Cowboys.
Four stars, four new teams, four new opportunities, all from Columbus, Ohio.
One of the very cool and underrated parts of where everyone landed in this draft is that three of the four Buckeyes are in the NFC East. Six different times per year, Buckeyes fans will have the opportunity to watch their former stars play against each other in one of the most historic divisions in football.
You could have asked any draft expert, any Buckeye fan, or any neutral NFL fan, and not one of them would have had Carnell Tate being the first Buckeye off the board. Tate has such an NFL-ready game, and he is going to come in and make an impact immediately for the Titans and their young team.
Reese's position is a very fascinating one. He was basically sharpied in as the No. 2 pick, until the No. 2 pick was on the clock and he was passed over.
He fell beyond the Jets, beyond the Cardinals, and then beyond the Titans before John Harbaugh sprinted the Giants ticket in to take him. He joins a front four that has the potential to be a bunch of just game wreckers.
Many would argue that Styles has the most ready-made NFL game out of anyone. He is bigger than you, faster than you, stronger than you, and tougher than you. He plays the game at a ridiculous pace because he is so smart. Then, when he gets to the ball, he does it with bad intentions.
Lastly, Downs is going to hopefully be the missing piece for the Dallas Cowboys. Dak Prescott and the Cowboy faithful have been begging for some semblance of a defense for years, and the hope is that Downs is that first step.
Each of these guys is going to make an immediate impact on their teams, and Buckeye fans are going to be able to bask in the glow of it all.
