Ohio State's top 2027 recruit locks in outside of the Top-10 of the 2027 five-star recruits.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have one of the top 2027 classes, even though they have just one five-star recruit to their name, for now.
The Buckeyes own the commitment to the top EDGE rusher in the 2027 class, DJ Jacobs. Jacobs was built in a lab to rush the passer, and he is going to get his collegiate opportunity in Columbus, Ohio.
Jacobs stands at 6'5" while tipping the scales at just 235 pounds, which will grow rapidly when he gets into the Buckeye program next year.
One of the things that stands out in his recruiting profile is that he is not just a pass rusher. What he can do by getting after the quarterback, he can match with his ability to stop the run. That is rare in today's day and age when so much emphasis is put on sacking the quarterback.
His scouting report raves, saying that he wins early in reps with a great burst off the line of scrimmage, and his signature move is going speed to power, which ends in a bull rush through an offensive lineman.
Finally, "Jacobs has the physical tools and tenacity to be an immediate impact player the moment he steps on campus."
As Jacobs gets on campus, he will mature his body into one that is way more filled out as he gets even one offseason in the weight room. Once he hones that in, he will then need to continue developing his pass-rushing skills. Power and bullrush work at the high school level when you are a five-star recruit, but as the competition improves, so must the skills that you possess.
He certainly will continue to improve there and develop his game until he is a force to be reckoned with on every down, every single week.
For now, Jacobs locks in his ranking as the No. 13-rated five-star recruit in the 2027 class. As it stands right now, he is the lone Buckeye out of all of the 2027 five-stars.
That final figure could change when David Gabriel-Georges commits next week, and if he chooses Ohio State, he will be the second in the group.
