The newest member of the Dallas Cowboys, Caleb Downs, will have his hands full when he faces his older brother, Josh Downs.
Get your popcorn ready when the Colts and the Cowboys match up in the 2026 season. We don't know the date of the matchup just yet, but what we do know is that when it does happen, it will be Downs on Downs crime.
Colts wide receiver Josh Downs met with the media last week ahead of the Colts' minicamp. He was asked what it would be like to play against his brother, Ohio State Buckeye Caleb, and his response was awesome. He said,
"He told me if he goes to the Cowboys, he’s playing nickel. So, that’s like head-to-head all game. … I (have to) let him know he’s the little brother in the situation.”
It will be Downs on Downs all game long, and for any older brother reading this, you know that Josh has to dominate. For any younger brother reading this, you know it's Caleb's time to shine.
For everyone else, it will be the purest form of football that you can lay your eyes on. Josh Downs largely flies under the radar, especially in his time in the NFL.
In his three years in the NFL after his college career at North Carolina, Downs has been solid for the Colts. He was a third-round pick in 2023 and has played as such. He already has 198 catches, 2,140 yards, and 11 touchdowns in his young career.
His younger brother took a very different path to the league. Downs is largely regarded as the best 2026 Draft prospect after his three incredible years in college football.
Caleb was a freshman All-American in 2023 at Alabama, followed by two incredible seasons at Ohio State. The way that he plays the game is special. He is as athletic as anyone that he would ever match up with, but the strength of his game is between his ears.
We will know very soon the date that this matchup will take place, as the NFL schedule release will happen in a few days. Once we do, fans everywhere will have the matchup circled to watch the former Buckeye, Caleb, take on his older brother, Josh.
Just like the days in the backyard, may the best Downs win.
