Ohio State's quarterback, Julian Sayin, catches a stray bullet from FanDuel Sportsbook
FanDuel Sportsbook added to the Julian Sayin slander with their most recent ranking of the top quarterbacks in the NCAA.
The Sportsbook's X Account posted on Tuesday their Top 10 quarterbacks in the nation, and while Sayin is on the list, he is pretty far down. Now, I have been on record saying that Sayin has a lot to prove this year. He was not great against the best competition, but was he worse than some of the guys on this list?
The rankings go as follows:
- Arch Manning, Texas
- Dante Moore, Oregon
- Trinidad Chambliss, Ole Miss
- Darian Mensah, Miami
- CJ Carr, Notre Dame
- Julian Sayin, Ohio State
This is a very fascinating ranking because if you use my note as the main criteria, no one, outside of CJ Carr and Trinidad Chambliss, outperformed Sayin against the top competition.
Manning struggled early in the year against Ohio State, Moore got dismantled by Indiana, and Mensah was under .500 at Duke. Outside of just unwarranted hype, Sayin being below all of them is absolutely a sign of disrespect.
Comparatively, Sayin is by far and away the best QB in the group in completion percentage, with the difference between him and No. 2 being six percentage points. Sayin trailed Mensah and Chambliss by just over 300 yards and trailed Mensah by just two touchdowns.
Finally, Sayin had the top passer rating by about nine points over CJ Carr, who was in second place.
There are arguments to be made both ways, but for Sayin, he needs to put it all on the field in 2026. If he had performed better against the top competition on the Buckeyes' schedule last year, then we would be having a different conversation.
He left enough on the bone to doubt his potential, and because of that, he has work to do.
He will also face a tough challenge this year as the second option at wide receiver is a major question mark for Ohio State. Jeremiah Smith is going to be the guy at the position, but who comes after him? That's a question the Buckeyes are going to have to solve, and Sayin is going to have to trust.
All in all, Sayin is still considered one of the top throwers in the game. He is surgically accurate and is a leader on the field.
However, he has work to do to prove nationally that he is the best. If he proves that next year, the Buckeyes are going to win a lot of games.
