At this point, we should just do a tracker on mock drafts to get the average Buckeyes that are going to be first-rounders.
If I had to put a guess in on Feb 4, I would set the line at 4.5 Ohio State players selected in the first round. I would feel comfortable putting my life savings on four Buckeyes being selected on night one, with that fifth being a wild card.
Where did NFL Draft analyst Lance Zierlein land on it?
I'm not totally sure about this fit and this selection of Reese to the Jets, but if the rationale is adding the best pass rusher in the draft, I can buy that idea.
Reese is the story of the 2025 season, in my opinion. He came into the season as an unknown player and is leaving it as a potential top-5 pick. When he is on, he is unblockable, and he rushes the quarterback with incredible discipline, athleticism, and nastiness. Whatever team selects him is getting the best pass rusher in the class and this mock has him going to New York to begin his career.
For many Ohioans, this is a dream come true. In most years, I'd say this is a scary selection for Tate and the beginning of his career, but with the addition of Todd Monken as the new head coach in Cleveland, it is looking like the wide receiver position is going to have a renaissance on the shores of Lake Eire.
Nearly 50 percent of Buckeyes fans would just have to go a short drive up I-71 to watch Tate tear up the NFL and do so in a city that is craving a winner.
Caleb Downs immediately becomes a top-15 safety in the NFL, and he would be doing it by going from America's college team to America's NFL team, a team that desperately needs defense.
The Cowboys' struggles, at least in the regular season, have been due in large part to their defensive struggles. Downs solves a lot of that right away.
Imagine playing for Alabama, Ohio State, and the Dallas. That's as good as it gets.
Styles became my favorite player that I have had the chance to interview, ask questions, and get to cover from Ohio State. He is everything that you want in a player, and he is going to be so good in the NFL.
If he lands with Baker Mayfield's Tampa Bay Buccaneers and joins former teammate Emeka Egbuka, he could be a piece that the Bucs need to try to get over the hump to win the NFC South.
This prediction doesn't make much sense to me, but it gets Ohio State its fifth first-round selection and adds to an already stellar Texans' defense.
McDonald fits in the same sentence as Reese in terms of what he did this year to earn himself some really nice money next year in the NFL. He is either going to be a late first-rounder or an early second-rounder. I personally do not see this fit making any sense at all, but I wouldn't be surprised if he goes in the late twenties.
