Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has one crazy idea to help save College Football.

We can all agree that the state of College Football is not in a sustainable position. Teams have seemingly unlimited funds to spend on their rosters, kids are getting paid ridiculous amounts of money, and the whole system looks and feels like a house of cards.

So, what's the fix?

It would be really easy to wave the magic wand and save the entire sport in one fell swoop, but that is not real life.

However, the question asked of Ohio State head coach Ryan Day on ESPN's "This is Football" podcast was what he would do if he did have that magic wand. His answer is equal parts fascinating as it is crazy.

Day suggested that an NFL-style draft should be the direction that teams take to form their rosters. The rationale is that college football has been operating in a gray area since athletes began getting paid to play.

The sport has one foot in making these kids professionals and the other foot in keeping them amateurs.

The main point is that there needs to be a governing body over the sport to make all of this an even playing field. Until then, every team is operating under its own set of rules, and it creates an uneven playing field. Is part of the answer a draft? I'm not sure if that is the best idea, but it is an idea nonetheless.

I agree completely with the rationale. The NCAA is trying to have its cake and eat it, too. They are trying to keep all of these athletes as "amateurs" while most of them are making six, seven, and sometimes eight figures.

Creating a governing body is an absolute must. It is hard to do now as it is nearly impossible to rein in everything that has been going on, but it simply needs to happen.

I hope we never see a world where college football is holding a draft for players coming out of high school, but I guess crazier things have happened.

Whatever the new solutions are, the hope is that they will at least fix all of the problems that college football and college athletics are experiencing now.
