Ohio State guard Bruce Thornton is on the verge of history on Saturday and we look back at his 5 best games in the Scarlet and Gray.

Ohio State Buckeyes' point guard Bruce Thornton is everything that is good about college sports, at least what they used to be before the new era of the transfer portal. In an era of college athletics where every player is out to make their next buck, and they are transferring all around the country, Thornton has been a mainstay in Columbus for his entire career.

Saturday night marks his final regular sesaon game at Ohio State, and he has the opportunity to become the all-time leading scorer in Buckeyes' history, needing just 12 points to take the top spot.

A fitting end for an incredible career that will be remembered for his toughness in the face of a lot of adversity. No one would have batted an eye if he had up and left Ohio State, but instead, he stuck it out, and by doing so, he has pushed the Buckeyes to their first tournament appearance of his career, and in doing that, he has etched his name in the record books forever.

Here are his top-5 games as a Buckeye.

5. Ohio State vs. No. 8 Purdue (March 1, 2026)

The Buckeyes' backs were up against the wall, and they needed a win to keep their Tournament dreams alive. They came into the game overmatched by the Purdue Boilermakers, who were rolling through the Big Ten regular season and were looking like their usual self. Ohio State came out and played desperately following their leader to a huge 82-74 win.

In the game, Thornton finished with a clean 20 points and five rebounds, but did exactly what his team needed from him in a must-win game.

4. Ohio State vs. Alabama (November 24, 2023)

All the way back to Thornton's Sophomore season, to the game that Thornton became the leader of the Ohio State team. Early in year two, this game was a tone setter for the Buckeyes who beat up on the Crimson Tide by a final score of 92-81 and made a statement nationally that they were going to be a force to be reckoned with.

This was Thornton's coming-out party. He played 36 minutes and finished with 29 points and four assists to propel the Buckeyes to a really nice early-season victory.

3. Ohio State vs. No. 25 Wisconsin (February 17, 2026)

Just a few short weeks ago, the Buckeyes had their backs up against the wall, needing a ranked win over a really good opponent who was hot coming into the game. This was a Thornton "refuse to lose" game as he dominated the basketball game.

He finished with a near triple-double with 27 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists to pace the Buckeyes to an 86-69 win over the Badgers.

2. Ohio State vs. Kentucky (December 21, 2024)

This game was an early signature victory for Jake Diebler and the Ohio State Buckeyes. They had a chance against the Wildcats, and they took complete advantage of it thanks to a sparkling night by Thornton.

He finished with 30 points, four rebounds, and three assists en route to an 85-65 win over Big Blue Nation.

1. Ohio State vs. Nebraska (March 4, 2025)

Thornton's best game ever as a Buckeye was the epitome of March Madness. The Buckeyes had a late-season bout against Nebraska as the tournament inched closer. They ended up being locked into a two-overtime dogfight where Thornton starred. He played in 48 of the 50 possible minutes, tallying 29 points and nine assists. The Buckeyes got a 118-116 two-overtime win.
