The Buckeyes' interior offensive line has more than just a chance to be one of the best in the country.
It is looking increasingly like the Buckeyes' jack-of-all-trades offensive lineman Austin Siereveld is going to settle in as the right guard for the Ohio State offensive line.
This is not official yet, but from all reports out of the Buckeyes' Training Camp, Ian Moore has had a really good start to the year and has shown that he is the future at left tackle. This scenario is probably how Ryan Day wanted this competition to shake out at the start of camp.
This sets the Buckeyes' offensive line up to be one of the best and most experienced groups in the entire country.
While Moore at left tackle will be their most inexperienced player, he is going to be surrounded by four legitimate veterans who are all very good players.
Carson Hinzman is the focal point of the entire position group. He enters his fifth year at Ohio State with 41 games played from 2023 to now. He has primarily been the center for this team, but when they had to adjust on the National Championship run thanks to a few injuries, he slipped over to guard to round the line out.
To Hinzman's left is two-year starter Luke Montgomery. Montgomery is an Ohio kid who came to Ohio State and was one of just four players his true freshman year to letter. Then, in 2025, there is a legitimate case to be made that he saved the Buckeyes' National Championship season when he came in after a slew of injuries during the Playoff run. He has become a true leader of this team and an all-time great Buckeye.
Siereveld will potentially slot in to the right of Hinzman as he goes back to his natural position of guard. He played left tackle last year out of complete necessity for the Buckeyes and did it at a very high level. He goes back to his natural position, which was a major point of concern last season.
Finally, out at right tackle is Phillip Daniels, who enters his second season at Ohio State after two years at Minnesota. Daniels is as violent as they come for a right tackle and plays the game with a certain level of nastiness that is required.
Together, all five of them will make one of the best offensive lines in the entire country. Not only are they immensely talented, but they are also veterans who have played at a high level for years.
The offensive line is the group that needs to make the biggest jump in 2026. It was this position group that struggled the most against Indiana and Miami last year, and they have a lot to prove.
They will be tested weekly, but it isn't anything they haven't seen before.
