Way too early 2027 Moch Draft features just a couple of Buckeyes taken in the first round.
The 2027 NFL Draft is just about 10 months away. A lot is going to happen between now and then, but as it stands right now, the 2027 Draft class is shaping up to be pretty incredible.
For the Buckeyes, we have gotten so used to having several guys selected in the first round. After having four selections in the past two drafts, it may look a little bit different in next year's draft.
One thing we know for certain is that Jeremiah Smith is going to be one of the most coveted players available next year.
It is going to be one heck of a risk for a team at the top to go with a quarterback instead of Smith, who is likely going to be a generational player, a Julio Jones type, in the NFL.
In this specific mock draft, Smith is the top Buckeye and the top non-quarterback off the board, and it has him hitting I71 North and playing the beginning of his NFL career in Cleveland.
This would be a welcome addition to the roster for Browns fans everywhere, but getting into the semantics of what teams will be picking where is a waste of time in this exercise. The main point is that Smith is, obviously, the first non-thrower off the board.
After Smith goes very early in the draft, it is a long wait until the next, and final Buckeye falls off the board.
That pick would be tackle Austin Siereveld at No. 22 to the Philadelphia Eagles. That would be quite the honor for Siereveld because he would be next in line to replace legend Lane Johnson in Philly.
Again, its a waste of time to predict teams, but that one is fun to imagine.
Siereveld is everything that is great about Ohio State football. This is a player who grew from being an unknown to a starter, to a captain, and then to a first-round draft pick.
It would be an awesome storybook ending to what was an impressive collegiate career and a launchpad into the NFL.
After those two guys are picked, that's it for the first-round Buckeyes, for now.
As we remember from last year, no one even knew Arvell Reese's name prior to the season, and he was the second Buckeye off the board and a top-five draft pick.
Does Ohio State have another player to fill that role next year? We will definitely find out, but I wouldn't put it past this program.
For now, it is just two first-round Buckeyes, but eight months from now, maybe it is three, four, or even five first-rounders. Just like we are used to.
