Ohio State's offensive line is one of the most veteran groups in the entire country coming into 2026, but are they one of the best?
The Buckeyes enter the 2026 season with a group that has a bad taste in its mouth, but has been through the wars together. Two seasons ago, when Ohio State went on to win the National Championship, they had one of the best offensive lines in the country, and it was a major strength of their team.
Last year, as the Buckeyes watched the Miami Hurricanes celebrate on the field in Dallas, Texas, as they took down the Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl, the Buckeyes' offensive line was a major negative for the Buckeyes.
Now, as they head into the 2026 season, that same unit is poised to get back to its rightful spot at the top of the country.
To get there, they are going to be the most veteran group in the country. Four of the five starters up front for Ohio State are returning.
Austin Siereveld became one of the leaders of the team and will play left tackle, Luke Montgomery will man the left guard spot, Carson Hinzman is the man in the middle, and Phillip Daniels, a bright transfer last year, will hold down the right tackle position.
Right guard is the lone question mark next year, which will be one of the main position battles during August's camp.
However, those four returning starters matched with one newcomer make Ohio State one of the most veteran groups in the country. Veteran doesn't help them much; they need to be one of the best groups in the country.
Offensive line rankings are tough evaluations because there are no stats to base thoughts on, there are individual performances, individual player outlooks, and team production.
Ohio State is going to be mentioned with the right company this year. Teams the likes of Notre Dame, Indiana, Georgia, USC, and Texas.
It's hard to look at the Buckeyes' group, especially after how last year ended, and say they are going to be the best group in the country. But their experience and veteran nature point to them not only being much improved but also having an upper hand.
The Buckeyes' offensive line will be the engine that determines how far the Buckeyes will go next year. If they are great, the Buckeyes will be playing football well into January.
