Which of the several mid round Buckeyes will make the biggest impact on their new teams?
The discussion about this year's NFL Draft in relation to the Ohio State Buckeyes has primarily revolved around the guys at the top of the draft, but they are hardly half of the story.
After the top four players that are likely to go in the top 10 and Kayden McDonald who going to go at the end of the first round or beginning of the second round, there are at least six other Buckeyes that are going to hear their names called this weekend. Whoever gets the opportunity to bring a Buckeye into their building needs to sprint the card to the podium.
The two guys that are going to be very sought out later this weekend are projected to be early third round picks. Tight end Max Klare and cornerback Davison Igbinosun are two of the names that are going to try and become one of those mid-round diamonds in the rough.
For me, Igbinosun has the potential to become a legitimate star on the defensive side of the football in the NFL.
Igbinosun is a very fascinating prospect because there is a narrative surrounding him that he can be a liability on the outside because of he tends to be prone to penalties. Im not going to say that he is the perfect prospect, but in my opinion, he has a boatload of potential.
One thing about Igbinosun since he got to Ohio State is that he has played cornerback behind the best front seven that college football has to offer. His job is directly connected to what the guys up front are doing to make the quarterback's life really challenging.
When an opposing quarterbcak is under tons of pressure all game long, it is very hard to get the ball out to the outside where Igbinosun was always in coverage. Because of that, we didn't get many chances to see him shine and show off exactly what he can be at the position.
Depending on where you look, he is projected to be selected somewhere between pick 70 and pick 85.
For me, the ideal landing spot for Igbinosun would be at pick No. 85 to the Green Bay Packers. The Packers are a team that is ready to win right now and frankly, they need to. They are a group that is under immense amounts of pressure to turn that program back into "Titletown" and the addition of Igbinosun gives them a player that can start as a nickle defender who grows into a starter and eventually becomes a lockdown cornerback in this league.
Davison Igbinosun, in my opinion, has the best opportunity to be a mid-round diamond in the rough that makes the biggest impact on his new team.
