The former Oklahoma State guard will suit up for the Oklahoma City Thunder during the Salt Lake City Summer League, giving Thompson three more opportunities to make an impression within the organization.
Thompson and the Thunder open Summer League play Saturday against the Memphis Grizzlies at 2 p.m. CT on ESPNU.
Oklahoma City then faces the Atlanta Hawks on Monday at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN before wrapping up its Salt Lake City schedule Tuesday against the Utah Jazz at 8 p.m. CT on ESPNU. The Thunder's official Summer League roster lists Thompson as a guard out of Oklahoma State.
For Thompson, this isn't simply another offseason basketball opportunity.
It's another step in his pursuit of an NBA roster spot.
After going undrafted in 2025, Thompson has continued to work his way through the G League and eventually found a home with the Oklahoma City Blue.
That's where the former Cowboy started to make serious noise.
Thompson averaged 19.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game with the Blue during the 2025-26 season. He shot an impressive 51.6% from the field and 36.8% from three-point range while appearing in 22 games.
Those aren't numbers from a player simply filling out a Summer League roster.
Thompson has already shown he can produce within Oklahoma City's developmental system.
Now he gets another chance to do it with the Thunder name across his chest.
Summer League can provide a major opportunity for young players, undrafted prospects and G League standouts looking to earn a closer look from NBA organizations.
For Thompson, familiarity could work in his favor.
The Thunder already know his game.
They've watched him produce with the Blue.
Now he'll have three nationally televised opportunities in Salt Lake City to show how his scoring ability translates against another collection of NBA prospects.
Oklahoma State fans certainly remember what Thompson can do.
After transferring from Kansas, Thompson spent four seasons in Stillwater and became a consistent scoring option for the Cowboys. During his final season, he averaged 13.0 points per game while shooting 44% from the field.
His journey since leaving Oklahoma State hasn't included an immediate NBA contract.
Instead, Thompson has taken the longer route.
Undrafted.
G League.
Development.
Production.
Now another Summer League opportunity.
The path isn't always glamorous, but Thompson has continued to give NBA teams reasons to watch.
Three games won't define his professional career.
But three strong performances could certainly create another opportunity.
For Bryce Thompson, Salt Lake City represents another chance to show the Oklahoma City Thunder that his success with the Blue deserves an even closer look.
After averaging nearly 20 points per game in the G League, he's already given them plenty of reasons to pay attention.
