Oklahoma State just received one of its biggest offseason wins. Kollin Ritchie is returning for his senior season after blasting 31 home runs in 2026, the second-most in program history. The Cowboys will bring back one of college baseball's most dangerous power hitters in 2027.
Oklahoma State just received one of the biggest offseason boosts it could have hoped for.
Kollin Ritchie is coming back.
Ritchie announced on Instagram that he will return to Oklahoma State for his senior season, giving the Cowboys one of the nation's most dangerous hitters for another year after falling all the way to the 20th round of the MLB Draft and getting selected by the St. Louis Cardinals.
Whether this was known by teams before the draft or not, this is enormous news.
After the season Ritchie just had, there is only more improvement and success to be had to improve his stock even more for next year's MLB Draft not to mention more NIL incentives.
Oklahoma State now gets another opportunity to build around one of college baseball's elite power hitters.
The numbers speak for themselves.
Ritchie hit .326 while posting a .462 on-base percentage and an .804 slugging percentage.
His 31 home runs ranked fourth nationally and were the second-most in a single season in Oklahoma State history, trailing only Pete Incaviglia's remarkable 48-home run campaign in 1984.
He also finished with a 1.266 OPS, 75 RBIs and a 174 weighted runs created plus (wRC+), proving he wasn't simply hitting home runs.
He was one of the most productive offensive players in the country.
Replacing production like that is nearly impossible.
Fortunately for Oklahoma State, it won't have to.
Ritchie's decision instantly changes the outlook for the 2027 season.
Instead of rebuilding around a departed star, the Cowboys return one of the most feared hitters in college baseball.
That also gives Oklahoma State something every contender wants entering a new season.
A proven centerpiece.
Opposing pitchers already know what Ritchie can do.
They've seen the power.
They've seen the discipline.
They've seen him consistently change games with one swing.
Now they'll have to deal with him for another season.
There's also another layer to this decision.
Returning to school gives Ritchie another opportunity to improve his draft stock while helping Oklahoma State compete for another postseason run.
It's a decision that benefits both the player and the program.
For the Cowboys, it may prove to be one of the biggest wins of the offseason.
When your lineup returns one of the nation's top home run hitters, expectations immediately rise.
And they should.
Keeping a player like Kollin Ritchie isn't just good news.
It's the kind of offseason decision that can change a season.
