Oklahoma State golf made history again. The Cowboys claimed their record 13th Big 12 title with an eight-shot victory, led by Preston Stout’s unprecedented three-peat, as the Cowboys eye an NCAA title
HUTCHINSON, KS — Oklahoma State captured the 2026 Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship presented by Allstate on April 29, marking their conference-record 13th title. The Cowboys secured back-to-back championships (the first since their own wins in 2019 and 2021) with an eight-shot victory over Arizona at Prairie Dunes Country Club.
The Oklahoma State men’s golf team etched its name deeper into conference history on April 29, claiming an eight-shot victory at the Big 12 Championship presented by Allstate at Prairie Dunes Country Club. The Cowboys closed with a 1-over 289 in breezy conditions to finish the 72-hole event at 10-under par 1,110, securing their program-record 13th Big 12 championship and the 58th conference title overall in school history.
It marked their fourth team victory of the 2025-26 season and the second straight Big 12 crown under head coach Alan Bratton.
Oklahoma State led wire to wire after posting a great second-round score that set the tone for the next two rounds. Arizona finished second at 2-under, while TCU was the only other squad to finish under par.
Junior Preston Stout delivered a performance for the history books, becoming the first golfer in Big 12 history to win three consecutive individual championships.
The world No. 2-ranked amateur carded an even-par 71 in the final round to post an 11-under 269 total, three shots clear of the field. Stout started steadily with seven straight pars before a double bogey on the eighth, but he responded with birdies on nine, 11, 13 and 17 to stay composed under pressure. His four-round total ranks as the second-lowest in championship history, trailing only Ludvig Åberg’s 265 from 2023.
For the season, Stout has four individual wins, including four of his last six starts, bringing his career total to seven victories.
Stout wasn’t the only Cowboy to shine. Junior Ethan Fang tied for eighth at 279 after a closing 72. Gaven Lane finished tied for 14th at 282 (final-round 74), Eric Lee shared 19th at 283 (73), and sophomore Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson tied for 29th at 286 (75). The balanced scoring shows this team’s depth, a hallmark of OSU golf under Bratton.
What’s Next for the Cowboys:
With the automatic qualifier in hand, the Cowboys now turn their attention to the NCAA postseason. Regionals begin May 18-20, with the top teams advancing to the NCAA Championship May 29-June 3 at Omni La Costa in Carlsbad, Calif.
Given Oklahoma State’s pedigree, including 12 NCAA team titles in men’s golf and a legacy of producing PGA Tour stars, the program enters as one of the favorites to contend for another national crown. A deep run would cap a season that already features four tournament victories and back-to-back Big 12 dominance.
But the Cowboy golf team isn’t the one making noise.
Cowgirls Finish Strong in Big 12, Head to Chapel Hill Regional:
Oklahoma State’s golf excellence isn’t limited to the men’s side. The Cowgirls wrapped up the 2026 Big 12 Women’s Championship in a tie for fourth place at 10-over 874, turning in a final-round 3-over 291, the second-best team score of the day.
Iowa State claimed the title, but OSU’s consistent play earned them an at-large bid to the NCAA Regionals as the No. 4 seed in the Chapel Hill Regional (May 11-13 at UNC’s Finley Golf Club).
Ellie Bushnell tied for fifth individually at 1-under, while Marta Silchenko and Summer Lee also earned All-Big 12 honors. The Cowgirls, ranked inside the top 20 nationally, have recorded three tournament wins and eight top-five finishes this season and will look to advance to the NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa.
