Oklahoma State has extended an offer to Class of 2027 quarterback Sladen Shack, one of Mississippi's top prospects. The move continues Eric Morris' focus on building quarterback depth as the Cowboys look to shape the future of their offense.
Are you excited about all the QB's being offered by Eric Morris?
While Oklahoma State football is set at the quarterback position for this season with Drew Mestemaker, the coaching staff is already looking ahead to 2027.
Sladen Shack received an offer from Eric Morris and company and announced it on X. The 3-star, 6-foot-1, 210-pound quarterback from Brandon, Mississippi, is ranked among the top quarterbacks in the Class of 2027 and is considered one of the top prospects in the state.
Oklahoma State is one of several programs to offer Shack. His growing list of suitors includes Ole Miss, Illinois, Arkansas State, Southern Miss and Tulane, giving the Cowboys competition from both Power Four and Group of Five programs.
The offer also highlights how aggressive Oklahoma State has been on the recruiting trail since Morris arrived in Stillwater. Known for developing quarterbacks and producing explosive offenses, Morris understands that success in today's college football landscape starts with depth at the position. Recruiting quarterbacks multiple years in advance allows the staff to build relationships early and identify players who fit the offensive system before their recruitment takes off nationally. For a prospect like Shack, an offer from an offensive-minded head coach with a proven track record could carry significant weight as his recruitment continues to grow.
Shack's team at Brandon finished 7-6 during his junior season, but the Bulldogs caught fire late in the year and advanced all the way to the state semifinals.
The arm strength is his biggest asset, something Oklahoma State fans have already become familiar with at the quarterback position.
While Shack still has plenty of time before making a college decision, Oklahoma State's early interest is noteworthy. The Cowboys are looking to establish a pipeline of quarterbacks capable of thriving in Morris' fast-paced attack, and Shack's skill set appears to fit that mold. His size, arm talent and ability to make throws down the field are traits that have become staples of Morris-led offenses. As he enters his senior season, expect additional Power Four programs to continue evaluating him as one of the more intriguing quarterback prospects in Mississippi.
Morris and the staff already have another quarterback committed in the Class of 2027 in Iowa Colony, Texas, product Carson White. White is one of four current commitments in the class, joining tight end Talen Scott, safety Bryson Brown and wide receiver Cooper Hooker.
Being the offensive mind that he is, Morris has already shown he values quarterback depth and competition within the room. Oklahoma State fans should not be surprised to see multiple quarterbacks recruited in the same class. The Cowboys already added two signal-callers in the 2026 class with Broderick Vehrs and Luke Tepas.
As Oklahoma State continues to build toward the future under Morris, quarterback recruiting will remain one of the program's biggest priorities. Shack may not have made a decision yet, but the Cowboys have made it clear they believe he could be a fit in Stillwater.
