Oklahoma State football enters the Eric Morris era with a schedule loaded with firsts right from the opening kick.

A familiar opponent kicks off the season for the Cowboys with a 2:45 p.m. kickoff on September 5 on ESPNU against Tulsa, marking the 11th meeting between the two programs.

It will be the first time since 2000 that OSU has opened a season in Tulsa.

OSU’s home opener brings another marquee first as Oregon, a College Football Playoff semifinalist last season, visits Stillwater for the first time in program history.

The matchup kicks at 11 a.m. on ESPN on September 12.

OSU closes non-conference play with another first-time opponent, Murray State, in the first night game at Boone Pickens Stadium, a 6 p.m. kickoff on ESPN+.

Since 1978, the Cowboys are 32-0 against FCS opponents.

Morris arrives in Stillwater after a strong run at North Texas, where he led the Mean Green to an American Conference title game appearance and built one of the nation’s highest-scoring offenses.

His system is expected to translate quickly to the Big 12’s high-scoring style.

The Oregon matchup is expected to be an early-season shootout, especially with quarterback Dante Moore returning after a breakout sophomore year in which he threw for more than 2,300 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions while starting all 15 games returning as one of the most experienced signal callers in the country.

Drew Mestemaker followed Morris from North Texas, giving OSU continuity in the offensive system.

Expect Morris to open his tenure with an aggressive statement performance to reset momentum after last year’s loss to Tulsa, which snapped OSU’s long winning streak in the rivalry.

Oklahoma State also opens Big 12 play on the road in Morgantown against West Virginia, with kickoff times and TV designations to be announced later.

Overall, the slate sets up as an early measuring stick for Morris and his staff, blending national spotlight games with familiar regional rivalries and giving Oklahoma State a chance to quickly establish identity on both sides of the ball.

With a new offensive system, an experienced quarterback room, and multiple high-profile nonconference tests, the Cowboys enter the season with both pressure and opportunity to make an immediate statement in the Big 12 race.

This opening stretch will likely define early expectations for what the Morris era can become in Stillwater going forward.

Were still over three months away from the college football season but it's never too early to talk match-ups.
