Oklahoma State just landed a hidden gem: three-star dual-threat QB Carson White, the first 2027 commit. With elite arm talent, legs that create chaos, and 32 passing TDs as a junior, this could be Eric Morris’ next star quarterback.

STILLWATER, Okla. — Big news for the Oklahoma State Cowboys’ quarterback room, as Iowa Colony (Texas) standout Carson White announced his commitment to the program on April 4.

The three star dual threat signal caller became the first pledge in OSU’s 2027 recruiting class, choosing the Cowboys over a host of Power conference teams.

At 6-foot-2 and around 205-210 pounds, White brings size, athleticism, and production that fit perfectly into head coach Eric Morris’ system.

White’s high school resume is impressive. As a junior in the 2025 season, he completed 114 of 181 passes (63 percent) for 1,963 yards, 32 touchdowns, and just six interceptions while adding 115 carries for 678 rushing yards (5.9 yards per carry) and 15 scores on the ground.

Over his career through three varsity seasons, he has amassed more than 5,400 passing yards and 79 total touchdowns, helping lead Iowa Colony to strong playoff runs. He also starred as a multi-sport athlete, excelling in baseball with offers from Oregon and Tennessee while running a 10.89-second 100-meter dash in track.

Scouts describe White as a true dual threat who can beat defenses with his arm downfield and his legs in the open field.

Ranked approximately No. 417 overall in the 247Sports Composite and the No. 28 quarterback in the nation (No. 31 in some Rivals evaluations), White earned All-American honors and participated in the Elite 11 quarterback camp. He projects as a high-upside prospect with the arm talent, mobility, and football IQ to develop into a starter.

The commitment surprised some observers because Oklahoma State was not among White’s top schools back in December 2025.

At that time, his public top-eight list included programs like Kansas State, Auburn, Houston, Virginia Tech, UCF, Utah, Kentucky, and Baylor. Yet Morris and his staff moved aggressively, turning White’s head with a visit that he later called “amazing.” White ultimately chose OSU over offers from Auburn, Baylor, Duke, Houston, UCF, Texas Tech, SMU, Kansas State, TCU, Nebraska, Kansas, and others.

Oklahoma State may have found its post-Mestemaker quarterback in Carson White. Current starter Drew Mestemaker, a Morris disciple who transferred from North Texas and put up elite numbers in 2025, is expected to lead the Cowboys through the next couple of seasons. White will have time to learn behind him before taking over around 2028 or 2029.

That timeline plays perfectly into Morris’ reputation as college football’s premier “quarterback whisperer.” Morris has a proven track record of identifying and elevating overlooked or under-recruited passers into stars. He played a key role in developing Patrick Mahomes at Texas Tech, helped mold Baker Mayfield during his time at Oklahoma, and later turned Cam Ward, John Mateer, and Mestemaker into highly productive quarterbacks at Washington State and North Texas.

His offenses emphasize tempo, spread concepts, downfield passing, and quarterback mobility, precisely the traits White already showcases. White’s ability to extend plays with his legs while delivering accurate throws should thrive in Morris’ scheme, which has consistently produced top-tier passing attacks and mobile QBs who create big plays.

Beyond the numbers, White’s character and multi-sport background stand out. Coaches praise his work ethic, leadership, and competitive fire.

As a three-sport standout, he brings the kind of athletic versatility and toughness that translates well to the next level. His commitment also shows Morris’ early recruiting success since taking over at OSU as landing a priority quarterback so quickly in the 2027 cycle sends a strong message about the program’s direction under the Morris era.

For Oklahoma State fans, White represents more than just another recruit, he’s the potential bridge to sustained success at the most important position on the field. With Morris calling the shots and a track record of turning quarterbacks into household names, the Cowboys appear to have secured a gem who could one day lead the program back to Big 12 contention.

White’s pledge marks the start of what could be an exciting era in Stillwater, one built on the same quarterback-centric foundation that has defined Morris’ coaching career.

Huge get for Morris and the Cowboys!
