Coach Steve Lutz secures a versatile 6-foot-9 scoring threat who is coming off a breakout season at UCF, as the sharpshooting forward brings elite Big 12 experience to a rebuilt roster

UCF transfer forward Jordan Burks announced his commitment to Oklahoma State University, according to On3.

The 6-foot-9, 205-pound junior becomes the latest addition to the Cowboys’ roster as head coach Steve Lutz continues to reshape the program through the transfer portal.

Burks spent the 2025-26 season at UCF, where he started all 33 games and emerged as one of the Knights’ primary scoring threats. He averaged 13.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game while shooting 45.5% from the field and an impressive 37.3% from three-point range.

His ability to stretch the floor with his outside shot while also being able to attack the rim and rebound makes him a valuable piece for a modern college basketball team.

This marks Burks’ third college stop.

Originally from Decatur, Alabama, he began his career at Kentucky as a freshman in 2023-24, appearing in 20 games and averaging 1.9 points and 1.7 rebounds per game while shooting 60% from the field in limited minutes.

He then transferred to Georgetown for the 2024-25 season, where he played in all 34 games, starting 11, and boosted his production to 5.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per contest.

His most productive year came at UCF, where he earned consistent starting minutes and showed significant growth as a scorer and perimeter threat.

Fit with Oklahoma State

At 6-9 with guard-like skills, Burks brings size, versatility, and experience to the Cowboys’ frontcourt.

His three-point shooting percentage (37.3% last season) will be particularly appealing in Steve Lutz’s system, which values spacing and floor balance.

Burks can play as a stretch four or even slide to small-ball five in certain lineups, giving Oklahoma State much-needed depth and scoring punch after a season that ended in the NIT.

The addition of Burks is part of an aggressive portal strategy for the Cowboys. He becomes the sixth portal addition for Lutz, joining other transfers such as Georgetown’s Julius Halaifonua.

This influx of experienced talent is aimed at elevating Oklahoma State back into consistent Big 12 contention.

After limited opportunities at a blue-blood program like Kentucky, he found more playing time at Georgetown before exploding into a featured player at UCF.

His decision to join Oklahoma State suggests confidence in Lutz’s vision and the opportunity for a larger role in a competitive conference.

Career Highlights and Potential Impact

During his standout season at UCF, Burks had several notable performances, including a career-high 24 points against No. 19 BYU, along with six rebounds, two steals, and a block.

He also delivered strong showings against tough Big 12 opponents, such as 21 points at Texas A&M and 14 points in a win over Kansas. These moments highlight his ability to perform on the big stage.

For Oklahoma State, Burks addresses key needs in scoring and rebounding. His career progression, from bench contributor to full-time starter averaging double figures — shows a player with a strong work ethic and adaptability.

At the junior level, he still has two years of eligibility remaining, providing the Cowboys with immediate help and long-term stability.

With his combination of length, shooting touch, and improving physicality, he has the tools to be a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses in the Big 12.

As the offseason continues, Oklahoma State will look to integrate Burks and the other transfers into the system. The 2026-27 season presents a fresh opportunity for the Cowboys to build on this momentum and make a stronger push in one of the nation’s toughest conferences.

Burks' proven production, multi-year experience, and perimeter skills make him a smart addition as the Cowboys aim to compete in the Big 12.
