A six-run fifth inning, powered by Claire Timm’s grand slam and Amanda Hasler’s milestone blast, fueled the Cowgirls’ dominant victory to secure a spot among the final sixteen
STILLWATER, Okla. – The Oklahoma State Cowgirls softball team erupted for a decisive 11-5 victory over the Stanford Cardinal on Sunday afternoon at Cowgirl Stadium.
The six-run fifth inning proved to be the turning point, propelling OSU into the NCAA Super Regionals and keeping their dreams of a Women’s College World Series appearance alive.
The win pushed Oklahoma State’s season record to 41-15, showcasing their resilience and momentum as they continue to make noise in the highly competitive landscape of college softball.
Stanford fell to 39-15, seeing their postseason hopes dimmed in the process.
Amanda Hasler was nothing short of sensational at the plate, delivering a 3-for-4 performance that included a towering home run, three RBI, three runs scored, and a walk.
Her consistent contact and power set the tone for the Cowgirls’ attack all afternoon. Lexi McDonald was equally disruptive, reaching base four times on a 1-for-2 day that featured two walks, a hit-by-pitch, and two crucial runs scored.
Claire Timm provided the biggest swing of the game, going 1-for-4 but driving in four runs with a majestic fifth-inning grand slam. The game began with Stanford drawing first blood.
A solo home run in the top of the first inning gave the Cardinal a brief 1-0 lead.
However, Oklahoma State responded quickly in the second when a Stanford fielding error allowed Hasler to score, knotting the contest at 1-1.
The Cowgirls seized their first lead in the third inning thanks to McDonald’s two-out walk, which set the stage for Hasler to rip a double into left-center field. That hit not only put OSU ahead 2-1 but also marked Hasler’s 100th career RBI as a Cowgirl, a significant milestone that highlighted her impact since arriving in Stillwater.
Karli Godwin added to the advantage in the fourth, plating Aubrey Jones on a sacrifice fly to make it 3-1. Stanford refused to go quietly, answering with a sacrifice fly of their own to pull within 3-2 after four innings.
Yet that was as close as the Cardinal would get.
The fifth inning belonged entirely to the Cowgirls. Oklahoma State sent 10 batters to the plate and exploded for six runs to blow the game open. McDonald led things off with a double, and Hasler followed with a massive home run to deep left field, pushing the lead to 5-2.
Walks to Madison Hoffman and Tia Warsop, combined with Aubrey Jones’ infield single, loaded the bases with just one out.
That set the perfect stage for Claire Timm, who launched a 222-foot grand slam to deep right field, her second career grand slam and the team’s 67th home run of the season.
The blast gave OSU a commanding 9-2 lead and sent the Cowgirl Stadium crowd into a frenzy.Oklahoma State wasn’t finished.
The Cowgirls tacked on two more runs in the sixth thanks to a pair of wild pitches, extending their advantage to 11-3. Stanford managed a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to avoid the eight-run mercy rule, but it was too little, too late.
Ruby Meylan, the Cowgirls’ ace, delivered yet another stellar performance. She tossed a complete game for the second consecutive day against Stanford, striking out five while allowing just three earned runs over seven innings.
Meylan improved to 29-7 on the season and retired the final three Cardinal batters on just six pitches in the seventh to seal the victory.
Zoe Prystajko took the loss for Stanford, dropping to 20-7.With the win, Oklahoma State advances to face Nebraska in a best-of-three NCAA Super Regional series in Lincoln this weekend.
The winner of that series will earn a coveted spot in the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.
For a Cowgirl program that has shown tremendous fight throughout the season, this moment represents both validation of their hard work and an exciting opportunity to chase a national championship.
With stars like Hasler, McDonald, Timm, and Meylan leading the charge, Oklahoma State enters the next round with confidence, momentum, and the belief that they can compete with any team in the country.
