Oklahoma State women’s basketball head coach, Jacie Hoyt has been the master of wheeling and dealing during this transfer portal period - going from one returning player on the entire roster to one of the best transfer portal classes in the nation
STILLWATER, Okla. — Jacie Hoyt and the Oklahoma State Cowgirl basketball program faced a massive roster overhaul, with the majority of the 2025-26 squad either graduating or heading into the portal.
Multiple key contributors, including second leading scorer Jadyn Wooten, forward Achol Akot, sharpshooting guard Lena Girardi, and center Faith Acker, have entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. With as many as eight players with remaining eligibility departing, the Cowgirls return just one significant player from this season, that being junior guard Stailee Heard.
In response, Hoyt and her staff wasted no time rebuilding. Their first major portal addition was a statement: Talexa Weeter, the NCAA Division II Player of the Year from Fort Hays State. The 6-foot guard led all of Division II in scoring at 27.5 points per game, while adding 8.9 rebounds and shooting nearly 40% from three-point range.
Hoyt and the Cowgirls tapped back into the state of Kansas as they picked up Lindenwood transfer Ellie Brueggemann. The 5’11 junior averaged 14 ppg and 3.1 apg this season, shooting 44% from deep. Brueggemann returns to her home state as she is an Owasso, OK high school graduate.
It’s gotten even better from there as Hoyt has had a masterclass of a transfer portal period. Since getting Weeter and Brueggemann, Hoyt has managed to grab two of the top ten gets in the portal, in Crooks and McGill.
Hoyt also managed four other portal players that will directly contribute, day one, to this Oklahoma State women’s program. Some say Oklahoma State has the best incoming portal class in the country.
For sake of clarity, I’ve updated the eligibility year for each player to reflect their status for the 2026-2027 season.
