The Cowgirls’ brought the brooms out on their trip to Salt Lake City as they sweep the series against Utah, 3-0.

SALT LAKE CITY, UT — The No. 21 Oklahoma State Cowgirl softball team made history in its first-ever trip to Dumke Family Softball Stadium, completing a commanding 3-0 Big 12 series sweep over the Utah Utes with a 4-2 victory in the Sunday finale.

The Cowgirls improved to 26-10 overall and 7-5 in conference play, while Utah fell to 25-11 and 4-5. Oklahoma State has now won eight of its last nine games, riding a mix of clutch hitting and lights out pitching.

Friday’s series opener was a classic pitchers’ duel, with OSU taking a narrow 2-1 win. Senior ace Ruby Meylan delivered a complete game gem, scattering six hits and one earned run while striking out six and walking four to improve to 13-6.

The Cowgirls plated both of their runs in the third inning when Amanda Hasler ripped a two-RBI single through the left side, scoring Karli Godwin and pinch-runner Jayelle Austin. Utah answered with a single RBI in the same frame via Kayla Lyon, but Meylan stranded nine Utes and slammed the door for the victory.

Saturday’s Game 2 turned into a wild back and forth affair, with Oklahoma State erasing a 6-1 first-inning deficit to claim a 9-8 comeback victory.

The Cowgirls racked up 12 hits, including a two-run homer from Rosie Davis in the fourth and RBI knocks from Lexi McDonald (three RBI total) and Audrey Schneidmiller.

Once again, Meylan earned the win in relief, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings with one strikeout to move to 14-6. The offense lit up for three runs in the third and three more in the fourth, then added singles in the fifth and sixth to secure the series clinching dub.

Sunday’s “brooms out” game provided more drama before the Cowgirls pulled away late.

Oklahoma State grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second when Hasler reached base and later scored on Schneidmiller’s sacrifice fly to right field. Utah tied it moments later on Cian Noli’s solo home run to deep left.

The Cowgirls went back in front 2-1 in the third on Godwin’s RBI single to left-center that ran in Tia Warsop. Payton Crank answered with a solo shot to right in the fourth, tying the score at 2-2.

It all unfolded in the sixth. With the bases loaded and one out, Lexi McDonald crushed an RBI double to right center, scoring pinch runner Libby Jaques to put OSU ahead 3-2. Warsop followed with a bases loaded walk that brought home Kaya Booker, pushing the lead to 4-2.

Meylan, making her third appearance in three days, entered in relief and was lights out: she fired 3.2 scoreless innings, allowing four hits with zero walks and three strikeouts to grab the win and improve to 15-6.

Starter Rylee Crandall went 3.1 innings, and the bullpen held firm as Utah managed 10 hits but couldn’t cash in after the fourth.

Ruby Meylan was nothing short of sensational across the entire series. She appeared in all three games, earned the victory in each, and went 4-0 on the week with a 0.78 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 18 innings pitched.

Meylan’s command anchored the Cowgirls’ pitching staff while the offense, led by Hasler (3-for-4 with a run in Game 3), Godwin (two hits and an RBI Sunday), McDonald (RBI double), and Warsop (RBI walk), delivered the production.

The sweep marks another strong statement for Oklahoma State as Big 12 play continues.

The Cowgirls will now enjoy a short break before resuming action on April 8 when they travel to Wichita, Kansas, to face Wichita State. They will first finish a suspended game from March 10 before playing the regularly scheduled contest at 6 p.m. CT.
