Jacie Hoyt warned everyone: “Y’all thought I was finished?” Hours later, Oklahoma State added veteran Nebraska guard Callin Hake. With 131 career games, 154 made threes and three NCAA Tournament appearances, Hoyt just added even more experience to an already loaded roster.
Jacie Hoyt tried to warn everybody. Before Oklahoma State announced its latest roster addition Wednesday, Hoyt dropped a pretty fitting teaser on X:
“Hold up, wait a minute, y’all thought I was finished?”
Apparently, she wasn't. Because just when it seemed Oklahoma State's massive offseason roster overhaul was complete, Hoyt went out and added veteran Nebraska guard Callin Hake to an already loaded Cowgirls roster.
This isn't simply another body for the bench. Hake brings four years of Big Ten experience, NCAA Tournament experience, shooting, defense and leadership to a team entering the season with enormous expectations.
Hoyt Really Wasn't Finished
Remember what Oklahoma State had already accomplished this offseason. The Cowgirls assembled the unanimous No. 1 transfer class in the country, headlined by Audi Crooks and Liv McGill, along with a collection of highly regarded transfers that completely transformed the roster.
You could've looked at that group and reasonably assumed: Okay, they're done. Hoyt apparently had other ideas.
Hake joins Oklahoma State after spending four seasons at Nebraska, where she appeared in 131 games with 68 starts. She also helped Nebraska reach the NCAA Tournament in each of the past three seasons and served as a team captain in 2025-26. That's a lot of experience to add this late in the offseason.
She’s Coming Off Her Best Season
Hake isn't arriving in Stillwater after spending four years buried on a bench, either. She just produced the best statistical season of her college career.
Hake started all 32 games she played for Nebraska last season while averaging: 7.2 points. 3.6 assists. 2.5 rebounds. 1.3 steals.
She finished second on the team with 116 assists and 42 steals. Then there's one of the more unusual statistics you'll see.
Hake set a Nebraska school record by drawing 33 offensive fouls. Thirty-three!
So when Hoyt talks about Hake's defensive presence and energy? There's some pretty tangible evidence behind it.
Another Shooter for Jacie Hoyt
Hake also fits something we've seen become a staple of Hoyt's Oklahoma State teams: Shoot the three.
She finished her Nebraska career with 154 made 3-pointers, just outside the program's career Top 10. That's noteworthy considering what Oklahoma State did offensively last season.
The Cowgirls made a program-record 310 threes and finished 11th nationally at 9.1 made 3-pointers per game.
Now Hoyt is adding another experienced perimeter player who can stretch the floor. As if this offense needed another option.
But Hoyt Mentioned Something Else First
I actually think Hoyt's comments about the addition tell us a lot. With Oklahoma State's roster already in such a strong position, Hoyt said the Cowgirls weren't going to add somebody simply for the sake of adding another player.
The fit had to make sense. Specifically, she wanted “elite character and a team-first mentality.” She believes Hake checks those boxes. Hake's background supports that.
She was president of Nebraska's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee from 2024-26, chaired the Big Ten Student-Athlete Issues Commission last season and was a two-time Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner. That's a pretty accomplished veteran to add to a team with championship aspirations.
How Loaded Can This Team Get?
That's really the question now. Earlier this semester, Hoyt stood in front of this roster and said she believed she was looking at future Hall of Famers and that Oklahoma State had the talent to potentially become the best team in program history.
Those were massive expectations. Then she went out and added another player. Hake doesn't need to be the star of this team. That's what makes the addition so interesting.
Oklahoma State already has stars. What Hake can provide is experience, perimeter shooting, defense, ball movement and leadership. Those are exactly the complementary pieces championship-caliber teams need.
Final Thoughts
The social media teaser couldn't have been much better.
“Y’all thought I was finished?”
Well...
Yeah, actually.
After bringing in the nation's top transfer class, it seemed pretty reasonable to assume Jacie Hoyt was done building this roster.
Apparently not.
Now a veteran with 131 Big Ten games, 68 starts, three NCAA Tournament appearances and 154 career 3-pointers is coming to Stillwater.
Oklahoma State was already loaded.
Jacie Hoyt just found another piece anyway.
