Series:

is 4-0 all-time against Sam Houston with all four games coming in Stillwater. In the last match, in November 2023, the Cowboys tied a school record with 17 three-pointers on their way to an 85-70 win. Oklahoma State's Men’s basketball team will play its eighth contest of the year. Tuesday’s match will see the Cowboys back in Stillwater after the Cowboys improved to 7-0 for the first time since 2019 with an 86-81 win over Northwestern on Thanksgiving night in Chicago. Oklahoma State’s seven-game winning streak is also their longest since 2019. Notably, each of the last six Cowboy teams to win seven straight went on to lose the next. That includes 7-0 starts in 2013, 2014 and 2019. A Tuesday victory would give the Cowboys their first eight-game winning streak since the 2006-07 season when they opened 11-0.

In their last matchup, the Cowboys saw a 5-point win against the Northwestern Wildcats, in the United Center in Chicago, 85-81. That game saw Cowboy’s Jaylen Curry score 16 of his team-high 18 points before halftime. Vyctorious Miller finished with 17 points, Anthony Roy with 16 and, Iranian Cowboy Parsa Fallah with a double-double (13 points, 11 rebounds).

The Cowboys opponent, the Sam Houston State Bearkats, come into Stillwater with a 50-2 record. Sam Houston State was picked ninth out of 12 in the CUSA preseason poll, Sam Houston lost its entire starting five but replenished through the portal. The Bearkats have limited opponents to 39.0% from the field, including 28.6% from three-point range. Their pressure defense averages 8.0 steals per game but also commits 21.0 fouls. As a result, foes have scored more than a quarter of their points (18.0 out of 73.6) from the free throw line. Offensively, the Bearkats are shooting 47.3% from the field and an impressive 79.1% from the stripe (14th nationally). When they do fail to connect, they've been elite on the offensive glass, grabbing 41% of their own misses.

Cowboy Player to watch in game eight:

Junior guard – Jaylen Curry

Curry has paced the Cowboys in scoring in their last two games. Expect Curry to continue his scoring prowess against Sam Houston State on Tuesday evening. If Curry can continue his hot streak and players like Vyctorious Miller and Anthony Roy can contribute with their offensive firepower, expect Oklahoma State to keep putting up 85+ points. The 2025-26 Cowboys are the first team in school history to score at least 85 points in each of their first seven games. Time to make it eight.
