STILLWATER, Okla. –
Oklahoma State quarterback, Hauss Hejny, has not played a snap for Oklahoma State since the end of the first quarter against UT Martin. In his short time, Hejny displayed arm and leg potential for the Pokes.
Unfortunately, Hejny suffered from a broken foot against UT Martin. If he doesn’t break that foot, is Gundy still the head coach? That’s an interesting but required convo to have, yes?
Second-string quarterback, Zane Flores, was thrown into the fire against Oregon and took an all time 69-3 ass whoop. Hejny gave the Pokes something Flores couldn’t and the Cowboys continued to fall.
That’s not Flores’ fault though. He wasn’t asked to move feet consistently. The game plan for Flores, in my opinion, was never crafted. The Oklahoma State offense, in the 2024-2025 off-season, was generated for Hauss Hejny, and, what we were generously able to see, in Game 1 confirmed it.
I feel comfortable saying this Oklahoma State team would be a much better team than their 1-8 record indicates under Flores and Sam Jackson V, if Hejny had been the starting QB instead.
Interim head coach, Doug Meacham, stated he’d have to speak with Hauss and his parents regarding returning for the final 3 games this season.
I’m here to tell you that Hejny should absolutely not burn his medical redshirt attempting to play for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Why? Why would he do that? It burns a year of eligibility for the TCU transfer.
Oklahoma State is waiting to hire a new head coach that could bring in his own QB, the same way Meacham brought in Hejny from TCU. The Oklahoma State fan in me, seeing the brief performance from Hauss in Game One, wants to see him return. The business man in me says “absolutely not”.
For you Pokes fans still holding out hopes for a Hejny sighting, post-Kansas, you better remain at the wishing well, because you’ll need it. Leave Hauss alone. Maybe he’s here next year, maybe he’s not. If he remains in Stillwater, I’ll drive the hype train and open the bar. If he’s not, I’ll wish him well, as long as he’s not playing against Oklahoma State.
If Hejny does remain in Stillwater, I believe he is the automatic starter next season, unless the new Oklahoma State coach brings in someone who can compete. At that point, I believe there will be a practice or training camp style competition. Hejny was well ahead Flores this season before he was injured. Whether or not Hejny is on campus in 2026, Oklahoma State should support him without any further decisions or loyalty questions.
Come on.
