Oklahoma Softball travels to Austin for a three-game series with the Texas Longhorns, looking to insert their will in SEC play
AUSTIN, Texas - You couldn't ask for anything better than a top five showdown between two elite softball arch rivals.
The Oklahoma Sooners (38-3, 11-1 SEC) look to hold onto the lead in the SEC standings with a series win against the Longhorns (32-4, 9-3 SEC). The series is slated to start with Game 1 on Friday, April 10 at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN2. Game 2 will be Saturday, April 11 at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN with the series concluding on Sunday, April 12 at 1:00 p.m. CT on ESPN. Texas hopes to defend its national championship run from a year ago.
The Sooners come into Austin with an unbelievable season offensively. They lead the country in team batting average (.428), total home runs (144), home runs per game (3.51), total hits (483), total RBIs (472), RBIs per game (11.51), and total runs (485). In the series sweep against Ole Miss earlier this season, Oklahoma broke its own SEC record from 2025 with the most home runs in a season.
The dominance has happened despite losing redshirt sophomore third baseman Nelly McEnroe-Marinas to a season-ending injury back on March 1. Marinas has a .360 batting average in 80 games in her collegiate career and was awarded first-team All-SEC for the 2025 season.
The major piece for this series will be the Oklahoma freshmen class. Kendall Wells leads the country in home runs (30) and Kai Minor is eighth in the country in batting average (.496). RHP Allyssa Parker has also contributed in the batting lineup as a freshman with 10 home runs, 25 RBIs, and a .333 batting average.
On the mound, OU will be relying heavily on sophomore Audrey Lowry and senior transfer Sydney Berzon. Lowry leads the team with an overall ERA of 2.08 and an SEC ERA of 2.16.
For the OU to steal this crucial road series, it will have to go through veteran RHP Teagan Kavan. Oklahoma is no stranger to Kavan as she pitched all seven innings in the 4-2 win against the Sooners during last year's Women's College World Series.
Oklahoma is coming off of a three-game sweep against Kentucky last weekend with all three matchups ending in run-rule fashion. Texas was tied with Oklahoma for the lead in the SEC standings until the Longhorns struggled in Tuscaloosa last weekend losing two out of three to Alabama.
In SEC play, OU also swept Auburn and Ole Miss along with winning two out of three at LSU. For Texas, six out of its nine conference games came off of three-game sweeps on the road against South Carolina and at home against Ole Miss.
Expect all three matchups to be nail-biters as both squads have a lot of returning production from 2025.
