Oklahoma Lights It Up From Deep In Decisive 80-64 Victory Over Missouri cover image

Jadon Jones ignited the offense with a season-high, fueling the Sooners' dominant deep-shooting performance in a decisive victory

NORMAN, Okla. - In a dominant performance at Lloyd Noble Center, the Sooners men's basketball team cruised to an 80-64 victory over the Missouri Tigers on Tuesday night. This win marked Oklahoma's third straight triumph and their fifth in the last seven games, showcasing a resurgence for a squad that has battled through inconsistencies in Southeastern Conference play.

Jadon Jones, a senior guard playing in what was likely his final home game, delivered a standout performance to lead the Sooners. He poured in a season-high 13 points while grabbing eight rebounds, showcasing efficiency with a perfect 5-for-5 shooting from the field, including 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. His early three-pointer helped set the tone, and his all-around contribution—combining scoring, rebounding, and defensive effort—proved pivotal on senior night.

Oklahoma's balanced attack was on full display, as three other players joined Jones in double figures with 12 points apiece: Xzayvier Brown, Tae Davis, and Derrion Reid. Mohamed Wague chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds, providing solid interior presence.

The Sooners' offensive firepower was evident in their team shooting percentages—they converted 62% from the field overall and an impressive 55% from three-point range, draining 12 of 22 attempts from deep. Multiple players, including Jones and others, connected on multiple threes, stretching Missouri's defense and creating open looks inside.

The game started with Oklahoma asserting control early. They seized the lead for good on Jones' first three-pointer with 12:29 left in the first half and never looked back. The Sooners built a lead as large as 12 points before halftime, taking a comfortable 35-26 advantage into the locker room. Missouri struggled to find consistent rhythm against Oklahoma's defense and hot shooting.

In the second half, the Sooners maintained their momentum, keeping the lead in double digits throughout and extending it further when needed. Their balanced scoring and sharp execution prevented any meaningful Missouri comeback, resulting in a decisive 16-point margin.

For Missouri (20-10 overall, 10-7 in SEC), the loss snapped their momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season. Mark Mitchell led the Tigers with 17 points on perfect 6-for-6 shooting, showing flashes of their offensive capability.

Anthony Robinson II added 14 points but fouled out late, limiting their options. Despite strong individual efforts, the Tigers couldn't match Oklahoma's collective efficiency or depth.

This victory not only boosted Oklahoma's record to 16-14 overall and 6-11 in conference play but also provided a morale-lifting send-off for their seniors in front of the home crowd. The Sooners have shown signs of peaking at the right time, with improved shooting, rebounding, and defensive intensity fueling their recent surge.

UP NEXT: Looking ahead, Oklahoma hits the road for their next matchup, visiting Texas on Saturday in what promises to be another tough SEC test. A continued hot streak could position them well for postseason opportunities.

The game highlighted the value of balanced contributions and timely shooting in college basketball, with Oklahoma executing at a high level to secure a convincing win over a quality opponent.
