The Sooners launched four home runs and stifled the Bearcats with a two-hit shutout, securing a ruthless five-inning mercy-rule victory to open their postseason campaign at home

NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma Sooners launched their postseason campaign in emphatic fashion Friday evening, delivering a commanding 11-0 victory over the visiting Binghamton Bearcats in a five-inning run-rule decision at Love's Field in Norman.

From the very first pitch, Oklahoma showcased the explosive offensive firepower and pitching depth that have defined their program, turning what could have been a competitive regional matchup into a statement win that sent a clear message to the rest of the NCAA Tournament field.

The Sooners wasted no time asserting control, exploding for four runs in the bottom of the first inning to seize an early 4-0 advantage. The rally began with Gabbie Garcia delivering a timely RBI single to drive in the game's first run.

Isabela Emerling followed with a productive sacrifice fly, and Kasidi Pickering provided the highlight of the frame with a towering two-run home run to center field. The early outburst set the tone for an afternoon where Oklahoma's lineup simply refused to be contained.

Oklahoma kept the pressure on in the second inning, adding three more runs to stretch the lead to 7-0. Kai Minor launched a two-run homer, while Ella Parker added a solo shot of her own.

The combination of power and timely hitting overwhelmed Binghamton's pitching staff early. By the time the third inning rolled around, the Sooners showed they could manufacture runs in multiple ways.

Ailana Agbayani ripped a two-run single that pushed the score to 9-0, demonstrating the depth of Oklahoma's lineup from top to bottom. The final blow came in the fourth inning when Kendall Wells crushed a two-run home run, establishing the 11-0 mercy-rule margin.

In total, four different Sooners left the yard: Pickering, Minor, Parker, and Wells. The offensive distribution was remarkably balanced. Minor, Pickering, and Agbayani each collected two hits and drove in two runs apiece. Garcia finished a perfect 2-for-2 with an RBI, while Abby Dayton contributed two hits of her own.

The Sooners' ability to string together extra-base hits and capitalize on every opportunity highlighted why they entered the tournament as one of the most feared offensive units in college softball.

On the mound, Oklahoma's pitching staff was equally impressive, combining for a two-hit shutout that never gave Binghamton a chance to breathe. Audrey Lowry got the start and delivered two strong innings, surrendering just one hit while striking out three.

Berkley Zache followed with two innings of one-hit relief, maintaining the shutout. Allyssa Parker then closed things out with a perfect fifth inning as the run rule brought the contest to an early end.

Binghamton, to their credit, found themselves overmatched against a superior opponent. The Bearcats managed only two hits for the entire game, singles from Rachel Carey and Rebecca Minnichbach.

Starting pitcher Olivia Kennedy endured a difficult afternoon, allowing seven earned runs on five hits, including three home runs, in just 1⅓ innings.

Savanna McHale came on in relief and pitched the final 2⅔ innings, giving up four additional runs. The Bearcats struggled to generate any consistent offense or momentum against Oklahoma's varied pitching attack.

This victory marks more than just a dominant opening win for the Sooners. It underscores their postseason readiness and depth across all phases of the game.

Oklahoma's blend of power hitting, disciplined at-bats, and strong pitching has them well-positioned as they continue their run through the NCAA Tournament regionals.

For Binghamton, the game represented a tough learning experience against one of the nation's elite programs.

As the regional progresses, the Sooners will look to carry this momentum forward. Their ability to score in bunches while shutting down opponents bodes well for deeper postseason success.

With the offense clicking on all cylinders and the pitching staff working in perfect harmony, Oklahoma has set a high bar for the rest of their tournament journey.

UP NEXT: The Sooners will face the winner of Michigan/Kansas at 2pm CT from Love's Field in Norman on Saturday.
