COLLEGE STATION, Texas — No. 1/1 Oklahoma Softball (48-7, 20-4 SEC) delivered a clutch performance on the final day of the regular season, sweeping a doubleheader against No. 12/14 Texas A&M (36-16, 16-8 SEC) by scores of 4-3 and 6-4.
The twinbill victories clinched the 2026 Southeastern Conference Regular Season Championship outright for the Sooners, marking their second consecutive SEC title and underscoring their continued dominance in one of the nation’s toughest conferences.
The day began with a tense pitchers’ duel in Game 1 that showcased Oklahoma’s resilience and defensive prowess. Miali Guachino struck out a pair of Aggies early, while Abby Dayton’s diving catch in the outfield robbed Texas A&M of extra bases, helping keep the score knotted at 0-0 through the first three innings as the Sooners stranded four runners.
Oklahoma finally broke through in the fourth inning with a three-run outburst. Ella Parker drew a walk, and after a fielder’s choice, Gabbie Garcia reached base. Kendall Wells was intentionally walked to load the bases, setting the stage for Kasidi Pickering, who delivered a clutch single to right field that scored pinch runner Chaney Helton for a 1-0 lead.
Abby Dayton followed with a perfectly executed squeeze bunt that plated Wells, who slid safely under the tag. The late innings featured several close calls and reviews. In the bottom of the sixth, Texas A&M put runners at second and third, but Audrey Lowry, who entered in the fifth, struck out Kennedy Powell to escape the jam.
The game ended dramatically when Sydney Barker fielded a grounder and threw to first for what appeared to be a double play, though a review kept the runner safe. Barker ultimately sealed the 4-3 victory with an unassisted play at third on a grounder from Ariel Kowalewski, another call that underwent review.
Lowry earned the win (21-2), improving to 2.2 innings of relief with two strikeouts and no earned runs.Game 2 saw Oklahoma jump out to a commanding lead early. Kai Minor homered to center on the very first pitch of the game, the Sooners’ first leadoff homer of the season.
A two-out rally followed, with Garcia and McDaniel singling before Kasidi Pickering crushed a three-run homer to right, staking OU to a 4-0 advantage. Sydney Berzon was outstanding on the mound, surrendering just three baserunners over five scoreless innings while striking out five without issuing a walk.
Oklahoma added insurance in the fifth when Minor singled home another run, and Ella Parker capped the scoring with a solo home run to center. Texas A&M refused to go quietly, mounting a four-run rally in the seventh highlighted by Paisle Allen’s three-run homer.
