Here are three of the biggest X-Factors for the Oregon Ducks to win this week.
After dropping a tough game to the UCLA Bruins last week, the Oregon Ducks are looking to get back on track.
Oregon will be taking on the Nebraska Cornhuskers this week, offering the team a chance to earn another Big Ten win. The Ducks come in with a record of 3-2 on the year, with the team no longer having any margin for error if they want to compete for a College Football Playoff spot.
But Nebraska has played well this season, entering this contest with the Ducks with a record of 5-1 on the season. The Cornhuskers won't be an easy win for Oregon, and this team is going to need to execute to the fullest extent to win.
Oregon will be without starting quarterback Dylan Moore for the game due to a concussion, leaving this game to a backup. The Ducks will either start Dylan Raiola or Brock Thomas, with the team having an open competition this week.
Here are the three biggest X-Factors for the Ducks to bounce back this week against Nebraska:
1. Limit Turnovers
No matter which player is under center for the Ducks, limiting turnovers will be crucial to getting the win. Against the Bruins, Raiola committed three turnovers, seeing himself be benched for Thomas at one point.
For this team, if they can win the turnover battle against Nebraska, it could be a big win for the group, helping them get the win. Oregon has struggled with this all year long, but it's not crunch time for this team after a second loss on the year.
2. Contain Anthony Colandrea
The Ducks will be facing off against a dual-threat quarterback in Anthony Colandrea this week, and the defense will have to find a way to contain him. Colandrea can break games open with his legs, and this is an area that Oregon will have to stop.
Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule has done well to put Colandrea in position for success this year, and the Ducks will have to stop this. If they can pressure Colandrea, while making sure he doesn't get out of the pocket, it could upset his rhythm in the game.
3. Offensive Line Holds Up
The Ducks have struggled to protect the quarterback this season, no matter which players has been under center, and this has caused issues. Going up against a tough Nebraska front, Oregon's offensive line is going to have to find a way to hold up, allowing the quarterback to have time to throw.
Oregon has tried to fix this problem all year, but to this point, nothing has been able to come together for the team. But if they want to avoid losing another game this week, the offensive line could end up playing a major role.
