After the Oregon Ducks lost to Oklahoma State on Saturday, calls for coach Dan Lanning to be fired started coming in.

In one of the bigger upsets in a long time, the Oregon Ducks dropped their Week 2 contest against the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Oregon came into the game wanting to prove itself following a Week 1 scare against Boise State. The Ducks had to squeak out a win against the Broncos, leading to questions about the legitimacy of this team.

Coming into the new season, Oregon was seen by many as one of the bet teams in the country. But so far through the first two games, the Ducks look like they could be on fraud alert.

Following the game against Oklahoma State, calls started being made about the Ducks firing head coach Dan Lanning. Fans, media personnel, and players took to social media to question Lanning's performance with the program.

Former NFL tackle Breiden Fehoko had some strong thoughts on Lanning and Oregon as a whole.

"“Nobody has underachieved with more resources than Dan Lanning. All these interviews and speeches with nothing to show. Oregon will forever be known as the uniform school. It’s time for Oregon to go hire someone real,” Fehoko wrote.

In the same regard, analyst Gaby Urrutia of 247Sports questioned Lanning's ability to take Oregon over the top.

“Serious question. Has anyone in CFB done less with more than Dan Lanning at Oregon? Inherited a 10-win team, has all the resources, facilities, and recruiting success you could ask for, and just never gets it done,” Urrutia wrote.

Lanning has been very successful at Oregon, but he just hasn't been able to get this program over the top. This program has consistently been a title contender, but they haven't been able to take the step to actually win it all.

The questions around Lanning are fair, but Oregon seems to be all-in on him for the long-haul. Lanning has done well with the Ducks, helping them build strong teams ever year.

Fans also took to social media, sharing their frustrations over the upset loss. The loss from the Ducks puts them in a tough spot moving forward, giving them no margin for error for the rest of the year.

Oregon came into the game with Oklahoma State as the No. 6 team in the country, and the loss could see them either be ranked toward the bottom of the top-25, or even outside the rankings. In all likelihood, Oregon will come in ranked around No. 20, based on the way that things have gone in recent years.

But given the magnitude of this loss, it's possible they are outside it entirely. Either way, Oregon will need to regroup quickly; otherwise, the dream of winning a title this season will be gone before the middle part of the schedule.
