We finally saw Oregon play some football on Saturday, hosting Boise State in what was one of the better games of Week 1. Oregon won 34-27 in a game it struggled in at times.
Oregon, with expectations to win a National Championship, has to hope things go as planned in the injury department. The only reason Oregon won't be one of the best five to 10 teams in America this season, with 10 being at worst, is injuries. If Oregon has health on its side, there's a real argument to be made that this will be the best team in America.
Keeping guys healthy will be a priority, but doing so with Dante Moore needs to be just as important as anything else.
Moore, who some believed had a chance to be the second overall pick last year, finished with 3,565 yards and 30 touchdowns through the air. He also added two touchdowns on the ground, rushing for 156 yards.
As he enters the year, some believe he has a real chance to be the best quarterback in America, with many saying he's either the first or second best behind Arch Manning.
“Oregon's receiver room is improved and in vastly better health than it was for much of last season. The improvement of Moore's supporting cast will be more than enough to offset any minor complications that may arise from the transition to a new offensive coordinator. Look for him to surpass last season's totals of 3,565 yards and 30 touchdowns while guiding the Ducks deep into the postseason,” David Cobb of CBS wrote.
The wide receiver aspect here is pretty interesting, though it's also fair to mention that Moore did lose some elite weapons, including Kenyon Sadiq, who was drafted by the New York Jets.
However, there's also reason to believe Oregon's defense will be better than last season, which means Moore should find himself on the field more. There's a lot to like about this Oregon roster, but a lot of it falls on Moore's shoulders.
These are all factors that will have an impact on how Oregon plays this year.
