During one of the best stretches of the former Duck's career, he's made a massive misstep.

While not outstanding right now, the University of Oregon has had some great men's basketball teams in the past.

One of the best teams they've had in recent history was their 2016-2017 team that finished the season 33-6 and went all the way to the Final Four. That team was loaded with talent, many of whom went on to play in the NBA.

The team boasted players like Payton Pritchard, Dillon Brooks, Chris Boucher, Jordan Bell, and Tyler Dorsey, among others. When they did eventually lose, it was by just one point to the eventual national champions, North Carolina.

While Boucher, Bell, and Dorsey didn't have stellar NBA careers by any means, both Pritchard and Brooks have been able to carve out really nice careers for themselves in roles that fit them tremendously.

Unfortunately, in the midst of arguably his best season, one of those former Ducks was arrested the other night for a DUI.

The 30-year old Dillon Brooks was arrested in the early hours of Friday morning for a DUI. Around 1:00 AM, Brooks was pulled over in Scottsdale, Arizona, for traffic violations.

Once pulled over, the body cam footage shows the officer telling Brooks, "To be honest with you, it smells like a dispensary in your car." Not ideal for the Phoenix Suns forward.

This season, Brooks has been averaging a career high in PPG (20.9), RPG (3.7), FG% (44%), and FT% (85.6%). His play, mixed with his patented on-court toughness and antics, has been exactly what Phoenix has needed this season.

Unfortunately, Brooks suffered a broken left hand roughly two weeks ago and is projected tomiss roughly 4-6 weeks due to it.

It will be interesting to see what the Phoenix Suns and the NBA decide to do punishment wise for Brooks. His legal troubles will be separate from that, but in the past, the league has typically issued a 2-3 game unpaid suspension and possibly a fine.

While this is no means the end of Dillon Brooks' career, it's certainly not a bright spot in the former Ducks' life.
