Oregon Ducks' 5-Star Commit Drops Big Announcement cover image

This five-star Oregon Ducks prospect has revealed some big news.

The Oregon Ducks are losing star tight end Kenyon Sadiq to the NFL Draft, and while they still have Jamari Johnson to fill the starting role next season, their depth will certainly be hurt by Sadiq's departure.

Or is it possible Oregon may not even skip a beat at the position?

The Ducks landed a commitment from five-star 2026 tight end Kendre Harrison back in November 2024, and this past December, Harrison made it official by signing with Oregon.

Harrison is expected to play a role with the Ducks next season, and he has already made a big decision regarding his debut campaign in Eugene: he has chosen his jersey number.

The 6-foot-7, 243-pound weapon has revealed he will wear No. 18, the same number Sadiq donned during his three years at Oregon.

Clearly, Harrison does not have any concern about expectations or pressure.

The prevailing thought is that Sadiq will be a first-round pick in the NFL Draft this spring, as he is clearly the top tight end in the draft class.

But even Sadiq — who was a four-star prospect when the Ducks initially recruited him — was not as highly regarded of a recruit as Harrison.

Harrison is the third-ranked tight end and the 34th-ranked player in his class, via 247 Sports' composite rankings.

The Reidsville, N.C. product hauled in 57 receptions for 928 yards and 20 touchdowns during his final high-school season. He also registered 60 tackles and 4.5 sacks on the defensive side of the ball, although he won't be a two-way player at Oregon.

There is a lot of buzz surrounding Harrison heading into his debut campaign on the collegiate level, and deservedly so.

Plus, Ducks head coach Dan Lanning has shown he is not afraid of giving significant playing time to freshmen if they are good enough, so it's entirely possible that Harrison could see the field quite a bit in 2026.

Oregon has posted back-to-back 13-win seasons but was routed in the College Football Playoff both years. The Ducks were hammered by Ohio State in the Rose Bowl last year, and last month, they were thumped by Indiana in the Peach Bowl.

We'll see if Oregon can finally get over the hump next season.
