It has been an absolutely miserable season for Oregon Ducks basketball, and things just keep getting worse.
Oregon lost its 10th straight game on Monday night, falling to the Indiana Hoosiers by a score of 92-74 while allowing Indiana to shoot a blistering 60 percent from the floor.
The Ducks are now just 8-16 on the year and 1-12 in the Big Ten, which follows a 2024-25 campaign in which they went 25-10, 12-8 within their conference and fell in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Things are awfully different this season, and even though Oregon retained its top two leading scorers in Nathan Bittle and Jackson Shelstad, Shelstad has been sidelined since late December due to a hand injury that could keep him out for the year.
For head coach Dana Altman, it marked the first time in his 37-year head-coaching career that he has lost 10 games in a row, and calls for his firing are louder than ever.
Yes, Oregon is certainly known more for its football program than basketball, but it's not like the Ducks have been cellar dwellars on the hardwood.

Heading into 2025-26, Oregon had posted 15 straight winning seasons, making the Big Dance nine times throughout that span. What's more, the Ducks have won at least one game in each of those NCAA Tournament appearances.
So what exactly has gone wrong in Eugene?
Well, Oregon did lose key pieces like TJ Bamba and Keeshawn Barthelemy after last season, which certainly didn't help. But that really doesn't explain the sudden dropoff for the Ducks in a matter of just one season.
Altman has gone 378-178 at Oregon overall since taking over the head-coaching job in 2010-11 and owns a lifetime 788-421 record as a head coach, which began at Marshall in 1989-90 and also spanned stints with Kansas State and Creighton, the latter of which Altman helped transform into a respectable program.
In spite of those solid numbers, Altman's seat is getting warmer and warmer. Perhaps his history at Oregon will buy him some extra time, but this campaign has been so disastrous that it may very well be the end for the 67-year-old.
