Oregon Ducks' Dan Lanning Makes Aggressive Move for Top Transfer cover image

Oregon Ducks coach Dan Lanning has made an aggressive move for an elite transfer portal talent.

The Oregon Ducks have not had a rather interesting transfer portal this winter. While they have lost a plethora of players, they have also added some intriguing talent.

And this week, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning decided to make a very aggressive push for one of the top talents remaining in the portal: former Colorado Buffaloes offensive lineman Jordan Seaton.

Seaton was supposed to meet with the Ducks this week, but instead, he cancelled his visit to Eugene after spending several days in Baton Rouge with the LSU Tigers.

So instead of sitting around waiting and potentially losing out on the top-rated tackle, Lanning and offensive line coach A'lique Terry traveled down to Atlanta to visit him.

Seaton is the No. 1 tackle and the fourth-ranked player overall in the transfer portal, via 247 Sports. He earned back-to-back Big 12 All-Conference selections at Colorado and is a former five-star recruit.

The Washington, D.C. native has two years of eligibility remaining and would represent a massive get for Oregon, as the Ducks definitely need some assistance in the trenches after losing multiple key starters along the offensive line.

Seaton has drawn significant interest from LSU as well as the Miami Hurricanes, so Oregon is facing stiff competition for his services.

The Ducks have posted consecutive 13-win campaigns and watched their 2025-26 season end with a blowout loss to the Indiana Hoosiers in the Peach Bowl.

Last year, Oregon was routed by the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl, so the Ducks have still not found a way to get over the hump.

Fortunately, quarterback Dante Moore will be returning for one more season, so Oregon should once again be a national championship contender in 2026.

Lanning has spent four years as Ducks head coach, having gone 48-8. Oregon has registered five straight double-digit win seasons overall and has only failed to qualify for a bowl game once since 2005.

The Ducks have been a strong program for quite some time, but there is no doubt that Lanning has taken them to another level.

We'll see if Lanning can ultimately land Seaton in the days to come.
