The Ducks are dominating the recruiting trail, after receiving a commitment from one of the nation's top athletes.
The University of Oregon gets a massive win as four star athlete Tae Walden announced his commitment to the Ducks, he announced on Rivals’ YouTube Channel.
Walden, from Collierville, TN, had Oregon, Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss and LSU in his final five, but ultimately picked the Ducks as his future home.
While Walden can play both sides of the ball, he’s mainly thrived on the offensive end. Because of that, there’s a belief, according to Rivals’ Chad Simmons.
“He’s an offensive guy with speed, jump ball ability, can catch the ball in traffic, I’ve seen him play multiple times at 7-on-7, and he just makes play after play whether its in traffic, uses speed to get behind defensive backs. But just a versatile, all around athlete.”
“I think he’ll play receiver at Oregon," Rivals VP of National Recruiting Steve Wiltfong chimed in. "Ross Douglas, position coach for the Ducks, is emerging as one of the top recruiters in the country. Dakota Guerrant (five star WR) in the fold for Oregon, obviously, they flipped Malachi Garlington and Xavier Sabb is still out there.”
Because of that, Oregon is quickly building its name as one of the best wide receiver schools in the country.
Ohio State still holds the reputation as the premier receiver school, but in an effort to stand with its competitors, Oregon is finding a way to get the upper hand.
While Walden has the upper hand in terms of his athleticism, he does need to improve his strength.
Andrew Ivins, the Director of Scouting wrote:
“Must improve play strength and physicality in the coming years to reach full potential, but has a chance to be an impact player on either side of the ball for a College Football Playoff contender.”
Football runs in the family for Walden, as his father, Erik played 10 seasons in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys.
He will begin playing for Oregon in the 2027 season.
