Oregon Ducks Predicted to Land Elite RB Recruit cover image

The Oregon Ducks are being projected to land a top running back recruit.

The Oregon Ducks have been one of the country's most dominant teams on the recruiting trail in recent years, and it only seems to be getting better under head coach Dan Lanning.

Case in point, Steve Wiltfong of On 3 is predicting Oregon to land four-star 2027 running back Noah Roberts, giving the Ducks a 60 percent chance to land the top prospect.

Roberts is the sixth-ranked running back and the 105th-ranked player in his class overall, via 247 Sports' composite rankings. He is also the No. 1-rated player in the state of Arizona.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound weapon has received offers from 37 schools, including Alabama, Florida, Indiana, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas and Notre Dame. Talk about a jam-packed list.

Oregon is obviously facing stiff competition for Roberts' services, but the Ducks may very well have the inside edge regardless.

Lanning and Co. lost running back Noah Whittington to the NFL this offseason, but Jordan Davison and Dierre Hill — both of whom had significant roles in 2025 — are expected to handle backfield duties next season.

Perhaps Roberts will be spearheading the Ducks' running back room as soon as 2027?

Oregon has already bagged four commitments for the 2027 class, including one from four-star edge rusher Cameron Pritchett. It also boasts a top-three recruiting class for 2026, having nabbed three five-star recruits and 23 players overall.

The Ducks have posted back-to-back 13-win campaigns, which is certainly impressive. However, Lanning's squad was routed in the College Football Playoff both years.

Last season, Oregon was thumped by Ohio State in the Rose Bowl, and last month, the Ducks were hammered by Indiana in the Peach Bowl.

Oregon has posted five double-digit win campaigns overall and has gone 48-8 under Lanning, but it has not been able to get over the hump just yet.

However, with Dante Moore — and several other key players — opting to return to Eugene in 2026 and with some enticing transfer additions arriving, next season could ultimately be the year that the Ducks finally break through.

In the meantime, Oregon will keep pounding away on the recruiting circuit.
