The Oregon Ducks are typically titans of the transfer portal, but that may have changed.

The Oregon Ducks have regularly been one of the top teams in the country when it comes to acquiring talent via the transfer portal, and they struck yet again this winter by poaching former five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola from Nebraska.

But how did Oregon actually do overall?

After ranking in the top five of On 3's transfer portal rankings in 2024 and 2025, the Ducks actually fell off quite a bit this year, finishing just 30th.

Oregon landed 16 transfers and lost 30 this offseason, and while the Ducks did land five four-star transfers (including Raiola), it watched three of them head out the door.

That doesn't seem like a huge deal, especially given how much talent was already on Oregon's roster. Plus, quarterback Dante Moore is returning for another year, as are several other key players who could have entered the NFL Draft.

But it does indicate that perhaps the playing field is being leveled the deeper we get into this new NIL era.

Of course, the Ducks should always be one of the teams with an advantage. They are one of the best football programs in the country, and that was the case even before Dan Lanning came on to the scene in 2022.

Yes, Lanning may have taken Oregon to another level, but this is a school that registered seven straight double-digit win campaigns between 2008 and 2014 and has made bowl games in 20 of the last 21 seasons.

The Ducks have now posted six double-digit win showings over the last seven years, with Lanning responsible for four straight. That includes back-to-back 13-win seasons.

However, things are clearly not on easy mode for Lanning and Oregon, who did not have the type of transfer portal success many anticipated.

Now, it should be noted that the Ducks are not alone in that regard.

Ohio State, for example, finished 36th in On 3's rankings. Penn State came in at No. 54. Michigan was 66th.

It just goes to show that Lanning and his staff will have to work that much harder to continue experiencing success moving forward.

The good news is that most are viewing Oregon as one of the favorites to win a national championship next season. We'll see if the Ducks can finally get over the hump after being routed in the College Football Playoff the last two years.
