Can the Ducks get back on track this week?

The 2026 season hasn't gone to plan for the Oregon Ducks, with the team underperforming compared to where it was expected to be.

Oregon entered the year with high expectations to go after a title, but the team has faltered this season. The Ducks will be coming into this current week with a record of 4-3, with the team coming off a tough loss to Illinois.

This week, the Ducks will be hosting the No. 20-ranked Northwestern Wildcats, offering this group a chance to grab a big win. Northwestern has been a major surprise this season, with the team going 6-1 to open the year.

Oregon will be starting quarterback Dylan Raiola in the game, with starter Dante Moore now out for the remainder of the season. Raiola has seen his moments of success with the Ducks this year, but overall, he has struggled to play up to par.

But the Ducks are going to need him to show up against Northwestern for this team to have a chance. Oregon can at least salvage the season a little but if they can pull out a victory at home this weekend.

Heading into the game, college football analyst David Kenyon of Bleacher Report put out predictions for the matchups this week. Among these, Kenyon predicted that the Ducks will come away with a slim victory over Northwestern by a score of 21-19.

Based on how the Ducks have played over the last few weeks, this seems to be an accurate prediction. Oregon has struggled to find its footing recently, but this is still a good team, especially ay home, where it's tough for opposing teams to play.

With Raiola starting, the Ducks coaching staff is going to have to figure out a way to get him into better spots. Raiola has thrown for 761 yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions this season.

Oregon fired offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer following the loss to Illinois, and this could help the team be more explosive. Head coach Dan Lanning understood that some type of move needed to be made, and Mehringer ended up being the odd man out here.

The Ducks will have to put points on the board to keep up with the explosive Northwestern offense. Quarterback Aidan Chiles has been great for the Wildcards this season, and he could cause real problems for Oregon in this game if the defense isn't careful.

Kickoff between the Ducks and Wildcats is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. PT/3:30 p.m. ET from Autzen Stadium.
