Oregon made it to the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Peach Bowl before being knocked out by eventual national champion Indiana.
The 56-22 loss made it hard for the Ducks to relish in what had been a successful season up to that point.
Oregon did get news for 2026 when quarterback Dante Moore chose to return to Eugene instead of declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft. He'll be a key player for the Ducks team that has aspirations of winning their first national title.
But Moore and Oregon have a significant concern before spring football.
College football analyst Josh Pate argued on his show Sunday that Oregon's offensive line could be a liability in 2026.
"Also I would like to talk about Oregon, because I don't have a ton of questions about them other than O line," Pate said. "Now if they don't have it, they don't have it.
"If Oregon does have it on the offensive line, this team may win a national championship this upcoming year, which I know Dan (Lanning) appreciates on March 8th. But D line, DB loaded. Offensive line, they lost three of five, but I feel okay about them there, but that's the big question mark, because they are relying on their guys."
Pate noted there were questions about Isaiah World and Emmanuel Pregnon this time last year. They played pretty well... at least until they had to play Texas Tech and the Hoosiers.
The offensive line was a liability for Oregon in the CFP. Moore didn't handle the pressure well when the offensive line struggled.
So if the offensive line is bad, it could be an ugly season for Moore and the Ducks.
Pate thinks Oregon's skilled players and defense can be elite.
“Wide receiver, check. Running back, check," Pate said. "There's not a big question mark elsewhere on this roster relative to the rest of the country, except the offensive line position.”
Oregon's skill players should give the team a chance to make the CFP. But as we've seen in recent years, the trenches are what matter when it comes to winning the national championship.
