The Oregon Ducks could steal this elite recruit from a top SEC squad.

The Oregon Ducks are one of the best recruiting teams in the country, and that's thanks much in part to the brilliance of head coach Dan Lanning.

Oregon currently boasts the third-best 2026 recruiting class in the country, and it has already gotten a head start on 2027, securing commitments from four players.

Could the Ducks be in the process of adding a top-flight talent to their stable of 2027 recruits? They could be headed in that direction.

Five-star defensive lineman Jalen Brewster committed to Texas Tech back in October after being pursued by Oregon, but things have since changed.

The Red Raiders decided to part ways with defensive line coach Zarnell Fitch, who played a pivotal role in getting Brewster to commit to the program.

This definitely peeved Brewster, who now appears to be open to flipping.

“We don’t know who the new D-line coach is, but I have other schools that’s in the mix now,” Brewster told Rivals when discussing his commitment to Texas Tech.

When asked if things were still solid with the Red Raiders, he simply replied by saying "no."

The Ducks made an offer to Oregon last February, so with Brewster appearing to re-open his recruitment, you can bet that Lanning and Co. will get involved again.

Oregon has been very impressive at developing defensive line talent in recent years, so Eugene would definitely comprise a great landing spot for Brewster.

The Cedar Hill, Tx. product is the top-ranked defensive lineman and the fifth-ranked player overall in his class, via 247 Sports' composite rankings. He is also the No. 3 player in the state of Texas.

At 6-foot-3, 302 pounds, Brewster is known for his strength and explosiveness, not to mention impressive versatility in the trenches.

Brewster has received 28 offers overall, which included many of the upper echelon schools across the country. Needless to say, Oregon will be facing some intense competition to land him if he does, in fact, depart Texas Tech.

The Ducks have posted back-to-back 13-win campaigns but were routed in the CFP each of those two years. They were hammered by Ohio State in the Rose Bowl last year and were annihilated by Indiana in the Rose Bowl last month.
